Re:Why are car keys so expensive to replace? on Monday November 02, 2026 @07:51PM (#50346506)
Yes the square and the round ones! I think t tops were a different key that only had a couple possible combinations.

Don't give them ideas
Actually cutting off potential users would probably be counter to short term profit maximization that shareholders care about.
Bridges probably shouldn't be subject to the same electromagnetic radiation that gets focused by the telescope though so ideally not a problem there.
Re:Linode Security Incident on Friday October 30, 2026 @07:59PM (#50311745)
I agree but disagree about the cause. People have always been bad at security and code in general.

Anthem is my favorite as well. Picked up a first edition a while ago, was hoping his book tour would have taken him near me so I could get it signed but looks like he stuck to the coasts and Texas.
He said he's a foreigner, almost certainly a mistranslation.
To put it simply: easier for Korean day tradeds to yolo their life savings into.
Funnily enough the YouTube video that came up when I viewed the page was an instructional video on ripping models from Unreal Engine games.

PR > MR
I'm somewhere between 3 and 5 depending on the ticket. Fable pushed me over the edge on it but also I've a heavily customized pi that I use which let's me go hands off and not lose control. It's all about tightening those validation loops, watching where weird shit happens and trying to figure out if there was something unclear or ambiguous that let it happen.

I was an engineering manager that stepped back into IC so the idea is code going out I haven't personally inspected was already something I had to come to terms with. Many of the problems I was already solving as a manager translate well to LLMs and agents. Tight verification loops, outside review, easy to use test environment. If you put enough validation steps you'll be less likely to have the agents gaslighting you.

It's never been a better time to build things. If you were coding because you like writing pretty code you will probably disagree. I will admit I am very very bored most of the day which is honestly my biggest challenge right now.

It's at most 4 years old. For that high end of a laptop I have pretty high expectations, I think it was over $4k retail.
I have a Thinkpad x1 extreme gen 5 with an i9 and 3080. Liquid metal. Overheats like crazy. I want to get in there but I hear it's such a pain to deal with I've been putting it off. Definitely will be swapping to one of the thermal pads when I do it.

That is not a tight enough feedback loop
Re:Claude Haiku 5.5 on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @03:52PM (#49997949)
Spent many years building skills, I'm just working on a different level now.
Re:Claude Haiku 5.5 on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @03:08PM (#49997396)
Those mfers. I'm using this for work! I use my work teams plan with pi so I can do all kinds of custom workflows that I can't in Claude Code. Time to convince management I need OpenAI instead.
Could these be signs of malnutrition? I see a lot of people who take them but don't also adjust their diet or exercise to make sure they're getting solid nutrition and start looking sickly.
Would be nice if they said what this meddling actually is instead of quotes from people complaining about said meddling.
So do I, that it why both I and claude use calculators. :)

I didn't even think of that aspect of it. Just a poor little guy who sits there watching journalctl and occasionally yells when he sees something.
Re:Dots: Always-on agents on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @04:27PM (#49899934)
Yeah personally I use 3 levels of agents. My main who is either a sonnet or opus, he delegates complicated things to a project lead which is usually fable, and then he delegates everything to the dumbest possible model for the task.
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @02:22PM (#49898040)
If it's so good why is Dots, also released today, based on Astra?
Re:Dots: Always-on agents on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @01:51PM (#49897482)
It's powered by Astra who will blow through your $20 plan in about 10 minutes
Back in my day this was called machine learning.
Re:I Switched to Brave Browser on Monday September 28, 2026 @05:29PM (#49884656)
And for those of us unfortunate enough to use Windows it is much more reliable and complete than Arc.
Re:OpenAI agents tried to bruteforce a UN website's API fields on Sunday September 27, 2026 @12:44AM (#49863429)
1. What is the harm is accessing this data 2. Why is this data private 3. What would it take to gain access to this data 4. What do we expect giving gremlins access to the internet
Re:Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @08:49PM (#49824752)
Fair, but the original comment was about reasoning.

FWIW I have ADHD and my internal monologue just will not shut up. I don't exclusively think in words but I do think in a lot of words.
Re:Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @05:39PM (#49822945)
How do you think? I think with words.
Re:The new CC, an AI agent built for families on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @09:07PM (#49810395)
What do you do for communication with the agent?
