And the version N+1 has exploits only the hackers know so as long as the general public is oblivious it's "secure".
Let's be clear the security vulns will never end and if you're running anything connected to the network eventually you'll get pwned.
What difference does it make? Version N (TEH LATEST) is considered secure until it isn't and the same show repeats with version N+1 but we already know it's also compromised.
Last time I tried (few years back) Wayland support was at alpha basically and too buggy for actual use...
Does it work with Wayland yet?
Government doesn't print money. FED is a private institution.
If it isn't broken then break it!
Good luck to you but I don't think playing politics is necessarily a "short game" especially now that AI is used to displace ICs en masse.
You got it all wrong my friend. In a big dysfunctional org like that the key thing is to focus on the role play and politics.
Why not just put wheels on a helicopter?
Because for a pension fund the exposure will be much smaller if they're an early investor in a 100m Business than being a late investor in 2T business.
Basically when you invest at the peak of the bubble you're going to be hosed.
Someone working for a fund and whose job is to INVEST is going to loose their job for NOT buying into the ponzi scheme that is running 20% growth YoY
If you can do this imagine what the richest people in the world could do.
This probably is not a reflection of their products but, boy do I wish it was!
As a long time C++ developer on Linux Clion was the best there was and it seems that they've completely neglected the core product. The core features are in a free fall while they keep adding new smart AI crap and shuffling the UI around and adding new show stopper bugs.
These days F1 is one huge yawn fest. Who wants to see a bunch of millionaires drive cars around in loops in a fixed order? The whole thing could be replaced by a simulation really. Any real Racing left F1 decades ago.
Unfortunately the motorcycle counterpart MotoGP has been going the same direction. But At least in MotoGP they're now trying to control the aeros and electronics and bring back the racing and rider vs rider competition.
I bet any woman could just scroll down the list of their matches or make a new match with the guy who is not the best looking player guy and immediately have a chat a date lined up.
You know one the nice guys who are always other wise ignored.
That's of course true. The dating apps goal is to make money. People who actually meet and have dates night leave the platform and no longer pay.
That being said the women's problem is the overabundance of availability of men whereas the men's problem is that they get nothing. So women at least CAN go out on dates if they just choose to.
All dating apps are misclassified. They should be under contraceptives.
The same problem on every platform. 80% men and few women who get so picky that most men will never reach their standards.
I fear for most young men dating is over. And I fear what will happen when societies have large swathes of men with no connection to society, no jobs, no friends, no wives, no families.
What a sad analogy. IKEA furniture is mostly cheap particle board crap and it's a shame that we as a humanity have cheapened our lives to the point where IKEA is some kind of standard (and the only thing) most people can afford. Back in the day furniture was artisanal and hand made yet people were able to afford and have it. Isn't that in fact weird, supposedly our societies are richer than ever before but most people can't afford artisanal goods that our forefathers would be able to afford even though they were supposedly so much poorer.
(Hint, distribution of wealth matters a lot)
Summary "In accordance to our customer feedback we decreased the package size and increased the price. "
The business would like nothing better than you to buy nothing but hot air.
When you have a surplus of poor people that might insinuate insurgency it's always possible (and cheap) to hire one half to kill the other half. Problem solved.
Same in Finland. The ruling party (represents the rich and the business owners) gave tax cuts for rich (high income earners and and those who have capital gains). Next they're planning to cut the business tax 4.5 percentage point. Eroding tbe states tax income while the state is already in the hole with a ton of debt. Of course the story is that these will kick off investments and make business boom. Best part is that to compensate for the tax cuts they're gutting the benefits including social security, unemployment benefits (highest unemployment in Europe btw) and calling those people lazy who just need "encouragement" to start working. A real hero pasty.
Similarly incentives to buy EVs naturally only apply to the folks who are better off. Most working class buy cars that are +10 years old. (The average car age is among the oldest in Europe btw)
Not disagreeing with you but the "resource allocation" which I presume to hint at the fallacy that capitalism is somehow great or optiomal at allocating resources is not really true. Just look at any big company such as meta and see how much inefficiency and bad choices there is.
Stock market as a measuring stick is completely irrational.
When you take away the cost people will treat the result worthless.
For example if you hiking in the mountains, reaching the summit and enjoying the views are valuable experiences to you because it had an associated coast, i.e the physical act of hiking up the mountain. If you take the ski lift to the top it's almost worthless and you have very little appreciation for the views.
I don't see software being any different to this.
"It's not clear how civilisation functions if humans become effectively useless and the only thing of value is one's ownership of wealth producing assets."
You can get a hint of this by looking at the developing countries with high income inequality. Few rich people who typically own all the countries wealth (and access to it's natural resources) while everyone else lives in a slum.
While the idea is itself not without merit the problem is when people design these data oriented systems without abstractions and in fact it's often difficult to find good abstractions around the data the problem comes when the system, the data and functionality needs to change. There will be problems.
So while it's great to think about the data flow it's also important to think about the abstractions around it,.ie the (system) interfaces that let the system evolve without having to propagate changes everywhere while reaping the benefits of data orientation.
I find the cookie banner always ironically wrongly labeled. Everyone claims to "respect your privacy" while actually disrespecting the privacy. If they did actually respect the privacy they would not use non functional tracking cookies and there would be no need to display the banner.
The answer is simple. Don't use tracking cookies.
OpenGL is not obsolete and is totally fine for many use cases. Vulkan is way too complicated and cumbersome for many.
Even if OpenGL doesn't get new features what exists now will continue to work for decades.
I'm afraid to trust technology coming from companies operating under the jurisdiction of a rogue aggressive nation that is continuously attacking other nations both (so called) ally and foe using economic and military actions.
3 miles is less than 5km. Perfectly fine by bicycle. Oh wait.. I guess you have too much freedom and no infrastructure other than highways so you gotta drive and burn all the fuel, time and money.
