The car sent the San Mateo PD a report that the riders had toy projectile emitters (aka "guns," I suppose) they were using to shoot pellets at passers-by. It pulled into a parking lot until cops arrived. It doesn't report if it locked the riders in.

I was just thinking I want to try at least one joyride but no, now I'm not even interested in giving them those $20.

Not even "fewer mistakes than humans," just make the same mistakes but a lot faster and that's also good enough reason to keep it around (esp when you add parallelization) just from an efficiency/productivity point of view. There may still be other anti AI arguments, ofc.

The only brain fog I experience is reading articles like this one that twist themselves into knots, avoiding the obvious truth that Capital is using this technology, as it has been doing since the dawn of the Industrial Age, to squeeze and exploit labor. I think maybe when the author notes that Andreesen is a "billionaire venture capitalist," I'm supposed to get a coded signal that yes, Dear Reader, this is you and me being exploited and dehumanized by the Rich. It's like some weird samizdat style writing, as if threading together all articles that have the phrase "billionaire something" will reveal the underlying call to revolution.
