And all the things you listed as proof are what AfD is firmly against. You also forgot gay couples having children as something that should be allowed only to the party leadership.
They don't need to. Farage's support is plummeting.
Re:Smart people don't think others are stupid on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @08:37AM (#50086747)
It looks trivial because it is. Overuse of stupid as a label does not mean that there are no stupid people and noticing their existence does not make you automatically join their group.
Around here means Slovenia. No idea what my great-grandmother made because I didn't know her, but down the line they didn't use this much sugar and my mother would be downright appalled at the idea.

Aboute intent I guess we'll have to disagree.

Your definition of scam is too narrow as you seem to think it must include lying.

Mine is more dictionary based, meaning "intention to deceive". And prominently putting strawberries or merino on the label while not mentioning what constitutes most of it would fit it. It's especially egregious when nutrition facts are printed in low contrast with tiny print I have difficulty reading even with my glasses.

As an aside, around here traditional jam has more fruit than sugar (per weight and volume). Otherwise you are really just eating flavoured sugar.

Re:GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone on Thursday October 08, 2026 @07:59AM (#50004786)
Not really because I'm sure they will be capable of a good enough design.

What I actually doubt is that people as whole are this adaptable to continuous novelty, especially when it is not directed by them.

Re:GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @06:18PM (#49999538)
I find this view fascinating. After decades of observing users getting lost by minor changes to UI or sometimes just different "paint" I am now to believe that we will all enjoy using completely custom UI customised not only to what I would want but what the app will think I need at particular moment and get on with it just fine.

I actually do think generating UI has some future, but I remain sceptical it can realistically go as far as promoters claim. It is especially bizarre to me when this is done by ostensibly UX people.

Neo just means new. It's not an out-of-jail card if it is completely unrelated to the old/real thing.
looks awful (to provide a genuinely felt counter view)
Re:OpenAI’s Navier-Stokes release included a Lean 4 formal proof on Thursday September 10, 2026 @06:41PM (#49651098)
Why do you assume they were vague? Do you imagine mathematicians work by stumbling around searching for accidental clues?
Yes, we do.

He was a fabulist who certainly was more scrutinized because of his skin color, but it really shouldn’t be disputed that he plagiarized and lied profusely.

That doesn’t mean remotely he deserved this.

I also have little hope that everyone who contributed to this sordid tale, from Cambridge, police etc. will have to account for their profound failures.

Re:AI companies are shredding rare books on Monday July 27, 2026 @09:34AM (#49069508)
They are, but using the same process for all books is simpler and cheaper.
That's because there so much of them and most of the range is not very comfortably accessible (you usually need to endure some discomfort either getting there or staying nearby).

Where you can get nearby fairly easy like base Las Torres, you'll have plenty of people doing just that.

I don't think this is by intent. It's just that the countries themselves are relatively poor and have higher priority projects for their limited resources.

Re:Microsoft starts canceling Claude Code licenses on Saturday May 23, 2026 @10:41AM (#48248139)
This works, thanks :)

For anyone else who may want this, use: export ANTHROPIC_MODEL=claude-opus-4-6

Re:Microsoft starts canceling Claude Code licenses on Saturday May 23, 2026 @08:12AM (#48247012)
How did you manage to do that?

/model command returns only 4 choices for me: Opus 4.7, two Sonnet options and Haiku.

Re:Modern CSS Code Snippets: Stop writing CSS like it's 2015 on Thursday February 26, 2026 @04:04AM (#47163686)
I am as well and there's no shortage of relevant content to fill my whole day so I can skip articles I dislike.
Re:Large-Scale Online Deanonymization with LLM Agents on Thursday February 26, 2026 @03:20AM (#47163379)
Depends on what you want to say. It can be safer to say something directly to someone's face than online because it is transient and generally does not involve random passers-by.

I am not going to give examples, because I don't want them to be pinned on me as my views, but I'm sure most of us have enough imagination to come up with them.

Read something else then.
Re:How I Estimate Work as a Staff Software Engineer on Saturday January 24, 2026 @03:17PM (#46747231)
I used to work for a company where we spent a day every 2 weeks doing this. And I had a headache at the end of the day every two weeks.

Great that it works for you.

EU has been a neighbour of Russia since a very long time as Finland joined EU in 1995. Not being a neighbour hasn’t been an option in a very long time as there are now several countries bordering it. Beside EU is not a military alliance so why should it matter?

Russia has only ever expanded, but since you seem to be wrong just about everything no surprise there.

Re:OpenAI Needs $400B In The Next 12 Months on Friday October 17, 2025 @04:29PM (#45621667)
This highly depends on the price difference and value you get form those 10%.

Re:Melvyn Bragg steps down from presenting In Our Time on Thursday September 04, 2025 @08:15AM (#45126384)
I generally agree with you and the "short" format is what makes it successful, but Melvyn said himself that they choose teaching professors because they would know how to explain subject clearly and after almost two decades of listening I'd say it has mostly worked.
Re:How We Rooted Copilot on Saturday July 26, 2025 @12:40PM (#44695338)
Paranoia and not knowing which ones fall into "mostly" category :)
Re:Doom Didn't Kill the Amiga (2024) on Thursday July 03, 2025 @11:26AM (#44456038)
I did (but also for games). That wasn't the problem. The problem was computers built on closed architecture didn't have a future even if company didn't went to shit like Commodore did.
Re:Just how bad are we at treating age-related diseases? on Wednesday June 04, 2025 @10:36AM (#44181153)
Not being extremely deadly is low bar since most of your life (with some luck) will be spent being old. I'd rather see my years being more than bearable.
They already are, it's just expected you calculate yourself the real price.
Re:Show HN: WhatsApp MCP Server on Monday March 31, 2025 @06:41AM (#43533372)
Cool work, but I'm more fascinated by your claim "99% of your life is stored in WhatsApp...".

Not even remotely true for me even if it would encompass all messaging apps I use. I guess I'm just an old introvert, but it makes me wonder how life looks like for those for whom it is true.

Re:Recreating Delicious Library in 2025? on Wednesday January 29, 2025 @05:28AM (#42863463)
Why would he, he buys bookmarking services and this won't be one :)
Re:Recreating Delicious Library in 2025? on Wednesday January 29, 2025 @05:20AM (#42863413)
I'm actually working on an app to replace my Delicious Library, but at least at first solely focused on books and supporting multiple users and features I missed in the original.

If all goes well I expect to have early version ready by middle of this year. While some features will require subscription, features not incurring ongoing costs won't. I like to think of it as an example of social software for introverts :)

I am hesitant to talk about details, but I haven't felt so excited about something in a long time.
