> I have heard the middle east has some very strict public filming laws, especially for women and children. Would be very popular globally!
Yeah right, because they respect and value women so much in middle east that they beat women to death for not covering their hair and we don't want that in video
yeah, they've actually told me how they beaten a woman to death for not covering her hair. I was actually not surprised. Also from their perspective women should be stoned to death for adultery as well.
When I was in pompeii the tour guide showed us a public toilet used back then, apparently it’s just a holes on a bench where everyone just sat next to each other and afterwards shared a sponge cloth tied to a stick to wipe their behind. So I’m not surprised by the shit graffiti
I wonder if someone can just vibecode an app for iPad mini to do the same things as HomeView and just mount it on the wall or have a 3D printed stand for it.
Also the most unrealistic part about the intro video by apple for this was that not a single person in the kitchen was on their phone and was waiting their turn to use this thing. Do iPhones doesn't exists on the universe where they filmed that ad?
I think this is really good for college students.
How about you go back to school and learn to write a coherent paragraph better than a 5 year old first? Also I'm flagging this nonsense
The real cash cow for AI at the moment is mostly corporations/enterprises, especially with software developing. That's where Anthropic is making their fortune now.
Personal intelligence is nice to have but I won't be paying a subscription for that when the free tiers are more than enough for my needs, unless somehow meta comes-up with a hardware device totally changing the way how we use personal AI (something similar to what iPhone did for mobile phones).
If you do it with absolute intention of destruction and harm, then a jury will most probably find you guilty, but if you can prove that it wasn't your intention and it happened by an accident then it's negligence.
That's quite ingenious I would say, when life gave you lemons you actually made lemonade.
I think it's pretty normal to have like one/two week notice period in most of the work except for maybe in Europe where the notice period can be 3 months
I understand that aspect but when you treat your work as just a job, you actually live with the mentality that you could get fired tomorrow and that's okay and you're mentally and financially prepared for that.
Also a lot of tech workers earn a higher salary compared to most of other professions, so I'd expect people to put away some buffer for a rainy day.
This is a lesson I learned a long time ago, no matter how good you are, you could be obsolete and replaceable any day and the companies/corporations don't care. Treat your work as a job and don't make it the center of your life.
Even though this looks really good I don’t see myself using this.
Mostly because I could use this only when I’m working from home, and even then after a few minutes I’ll get tired of speaking to myself and I actually type way faster than I speak.
I couldn’t agree more. The front page is most of the time filled with EU sovereign nonsense, climate change doomsday articles, anything to shit on current US administration. Sometimes the same news item would be on the front-page multiple times from different sources.
Funny thing is that if you express any opinion which is not considered ultra-liberal, leftist, and absolutely politically correct it would be downvoted and ultimately flagged.
There is no more entitlement of having an opinion or agreeing to disagree, you’ll just be labelled as a nazi. I’m pretty sure this comment would be downvoted to prove my point
Your best chance would be to apply for an SRE role. Even in there there won’t be much database development, but more of maintenance and scaling where your deep understanding on DB might be helpful. Once you have more exposure and experience, then you might be able to apply directly for a company that develop DBs
I guess there are still people that wears masks like that mask mandated lesbian bar in tiktok. Some people are just crazy like they stop living life to the fullest in fear of dying.
Is the app not available in EU?
I remember reading somewhere that they are planning on using excessive wind/solar energy to generate Hydrogen gas and use that for energy instead of Hydrocarbon gases.
Is there a second wave of AI bubble happening? How can an AI classifier company be worth of $7.5B
That’s what I thought as well. Also, in US one could start work in New York after graduation and if a better job offer comes they can move around the country in different states where as in EU, you graduate and start working in Netherland and assume one learns Dutch, then they are restricted to Netherland in terms of language if they get a job offer in another EU country like Italy or Germany or France, then they would have to learn that languages as well I guess
Maybe that’s true in your close people bubble. Don’t generalise it to every European. I’m pretty sure there a big Trump fans base in Poland, Hungary and Germany to name a few.
How about the language usage at workplace after graduation? Would one have to learn Dutch or still continue everything with English?
Also is it easy to get a job after graduation in Netherlands in STEM field? As an example if someone graduated in medicine (doctor, nurse, etc.) then wouldn’t proficiency in Dutch be mandatory to work?
I don't think this would negatively affect the crème de la crème, they would even have a high demand in US companies especially in STEM fields with higher salaries after finishing the studies.
US is popular for higher studies for students all around the world not only because of the opportunities, but also English being the language for studies. I'm not sure how it works in EU countries. Does Netherland or South Korea offers degree programs completely in English?
I think in few years LLMs would be so good that the programming language used by humans to build software would be natural human language. LLMs would abstract out high level programing languages the same way where we don't write assembly code today. Hence, I'm not sure how important it would be to learn programing languages.
However, it's totally make sense to learn theories and concepts behind computer science and engineering like networking, encryption/cryptography, etc. if someone wants to be a software developer in the future.
I think we're past the social media era. I remember using facebook to connect with highschool friends and keep up with them when I was in college. We used to play barn buddy together, update status and used to chat for ages on fb chat. But everything got ruined when fb allowed re-posting and pages which allowed non-personal and unauthentic repetitive stuff to be on top of the feed instead of the updates from my friends, and then came the influencers.
Further, nowadays nobody wants to update the status or share their personal lives on the internet because it's cringy and also again we don't want to go back to the phase where we start to compare our lives with a carefully curated set of photos from other people's profiles because as the age old saying goes comparison is the theft of joy.
Shouldn't the company still advertise the role for locals before offering remote? Also, for some roles it's mandatory to have on-site or at least hire within US due to compliance.
If that starts to happen I'm pretty sure Trump administration would introduce policies to keep the jobs in US the same way they are trying it for manufacturing jobs.
I see it more as a brain drain. I wonder how the world would be if those extremely talented people have stayed in their home countries and contributed to the local economies and development of the respective countries rather than contributing to the American imperialism.
Then communicate that clearly and directly to upper level and set the boundaries. It would lead to a conflict, but you can’t run away from that and agree on a compromise.
AI does increase productivity if you use it as a correct tool when needed. Measure the productivity gain/loss over the time and refine approach iteratively.
