Meanwhile here’s me still just using the ChatGPT web chat asking it for code snippets.
As someone who's about to quit to go work on their startup, glad to know things are gonna be terrible if everything goes to shit and I need to return to the job market.
IDK, your average boss is just a dude who has bills to pay and mouths to feed. They don't really care what happens as long as you're not doing something stupid, especially visibly and on their time.

Sometimes, I get sent resumes to critique and it was hard to make comments on things like formatting or which sentences didn't make sense. So I made this app to communicate those annotations better.Later on, I realised it's actually pretty useful to just write notes on any image. I use it to fill out lean canvases and other charts. At least now I can tick off the "write a note taking app"...
Marketing so I can show the stuff I’ve been making off
The bold and highlighting all over the place is really annoying. I get why it’s formatted that way but it’s a bit too much information and I find it hard to focus.
So you can put this on your resume:
Open Source Contributor:
- Diagnosed and fixed a key bug on Curl
Getting a net::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID on your blog :/
I'm considering this idea currently because ATM all the Pink Floyd albums on streaming platforms have names describing the image instead of the original artwork (I assume for the WYWH anniversary.) What it reminded me was that we don't own anything they host so I look forward to exploring this as well.
This is cool but what I really want is another iPhone Mini. I got tiny hands, phones are way too big for me.
Average Brit here - we do not like this and the way politics here has been so tumultuous has shown the general public are sick of this behaviour too.
Use a timer like the rest of us. There are solutions to the problem
A plug and play user management system based on OpenFGA that allows you to manage user permissions and roles locally.
I built it to help save time for folks building internal enterprise apps
Nope, I do this too (most of the time.) I don’t like working on code I don’t understand. I have started to ask it to use a client API I’ve written to figure out how clients would work with the stuff I write though. It’s great.
I love this. I don’t write but I think this advice applies to anything creative. Can’t get better if you don’t do it!

I’m interested in visiting some historic or special places related to this field as a way of rejuvenating my passion in the field again.I’ve never been to Bletchley Park so I figured I might as well make a visit to see if I can get excited about something that doesn’t involve arguing about the merits of adding a column to a database.Any other places people recommend / have been to ? Thank you!
I’ve done this! I wound up writing a small 500 sub LOC solution (very bare bones) that I copy/paste when I work in places where I don’t get to use my fav note taking software.
That said, I just converged on Apple Notes in the end.
There are plenty of internet radios like NTS which are all about curated discovery. It's worth checking out if that's your thing!
From the UK too. Seeing those docs gave me a total whiplash! I remember the amount of paperwork we had to do for these kind of projects. Funny how nothing has changed.
Anywhere but the UK. It’s miserable here.
I blog about things I mess up on but learned something about. That way, I feel less bad messing up and if someone else has the same idea, they can learn too
I have built something similar except with a list of warm up exercises and with GitHub Actions.
I suppose a bank of words on a .CSV, a script which selects words, and a job triggered via a ChronJob which opens an issue does the trick. I had it so when an issue is opened, I got emailed.
The pro of this approach is you don’t have to deploy any infra. The con is that your emails never look as nice as you got it :’)
I invest in my soft skills. I’ve become pretty good at handling my business stakeholders now and while I do still code, I’m also keeping business in the loop and helping them to be involved.
AoC would be more stressful if you had to solve a problem in 30 minutes for a highly competitive job.
AI tools for schools. Currently building the first tool out which is to do with languages. It's been a wild journey so far, but pushing
I really enjoyed reading this because it explained the topic quite simply. It was well written !

Hi HN! I worked super hard on my side project that hasn’t work out yet but I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of relaxation time and I’m kind of sitting here thinking: can I approach this better? So my question is: how do you set healthy barriers with you and your side projects .
Strange… The finance company I work at also does this. And it’s so strange. I feel like they value Jira tickets more than actual work being done. It’s even funnier cause we get asked to close work when we want to go into prod and told to create new tickets to put our work in to prod. which kind of is annoying.
