We have no clue whether they're their assumptions. They claim 100% that they are theirs, but we can't know that. Especially in similar situations, when politics is mentioned and usually too many people have the same assumptions shouted by some "news" sources.
I romanticized even before, because there is a reason why society's view of developers shifted from geek losers to rich in the past 15 years. I remember when 15 years ago a girl told me that I'm different, because I'm not as looser as how she imagined developers.
*Some of the most toxic users, maybe (I have no clue, since I barely used it ever), but there are enough left on Twitter for sure.
Yes, however, this causes people who know what they do suffer because of people who don't. My question is whether this affects innovation, because the same thing at different places definitely does, and we actively fight against this exactly to help innovation.
History tells us that a large portion of the population can be out of touch. Sometimes almost everybody in a given society.
Yet you are probably in the 90% of developers who cannot estimate properly.
I would like to have a professional judgement closer to how it's done in statics, instead of developers, since you fuck up lives directly with one, and usually not with the other one.
So, most of them are bad dentists, and you cannot trust them, just like developers and their estimations?
That seems quite like lying to me for some imagined benefits of their patients.
This is a brand new product. Basically nothing what you wrote applies to it. Also, I cannot find any public independent audit result for this specific product. Heck, I couldn't find even a single one about any Apple products, what I found all of them said that they're not verification at all, and of course Apple never published anything related to these.
How can you have this widely different amount of cavities based on judgement? How are they not snake oil salesmen, if judgement makes the diagnosis different by magnitudes?
There are people who are loud about absolute free speech, who have no clue what that really means, and almost nobody really wants that. For example, because almost nobody wants it to affect them negatively, which it would with real absolute free speech.
So even when people "know", and can say what they "want", they don't really.
Yes, there is an "alignment" in society, but it's a messy, mushy thing, it's not great at all with deterministic machines, even as models are not deterministic in a different sense.
With Gamestop (without reflecting the current AI situation), there was a real fuckup which could be exploited with a high probability, and a few people saw it, and exploited it, and became rich. Whatever happened after January 2021 is the problem, when the short squeeze went already away, but somehow people still invest in a slowly dying company.
You can. They do all the time in math and programming.
I think the burden of the proof should be on Apple's side first.
This trick means that there is a check when you resume a download compared to when you start one. Introduce that check to when a download is started.
If it's anything like programming, then LLMs are still worse than the best developers. If you give them any freedom then they choose worse solutions than what's possible by any metric about 50% of the time. If they don't need to invent anything at all, they are great, otherwise they are bad. The only metric in which they are better is speed. For example the other day I used Claude for an anti accidental double clicking mechanism on Android Compose. I even listed, and give examples what it should do, what shouldn't, and I give the freedom to choose an exact solution (it's a very simple problem). About half of the code wasn't needed. And some of them caused real problems. Also its solution was far from good. It was error prone as hell. For some reasons it didn't handle at the point where clickability is defined, but one layer up with more boilerplate than it needs... which is not great at all. They also cannot handle flows well at all. It works for PoC, and for quick tests, and nothing for any complexity even a little bit, like having the same screen twice on the stack. But of course, if it has an example, how it should be done, then it copies the logic well.. Also we vibe coded a website recently. There were a ton of bugs on the happy path, which were considered finished by its creator. I don't even want to imagine what's with error cases, which I'm quite sure nobody tested.
Good question whether Lean is enough.
Only anarchists support that. Nobody else supports absolute free speech. Not even the self described "free speech absolutists". I mean, they support only until they are not affected by it negatively.
In other words, toxic work environment. But of course, lying won't help with that at all.
> China has no interest in being the guarantor of freedom of transit in international waterways
What makes you think of this? Also, why wouldn't China pick up this role, when they heavily rely on this, or why wouldn't bilateral agreements be enough?
You have way bigger problems, if a text message about the same thing is not enough. They think that you lie to them... and you do.
I think a good rule of thumb is to avoid people who have this level of lack of empathy. I can be on the toilet, running, on a roller coaster, or at a myriad of different places where I don't or even can't have my phone with me. If they think, that I avoid them because of them, then that's on them, and I cannot care less. I avoid such Mexican soap opera generator people like plague.
I'm native Hungarian speaker, and the giveaway is the exact opposite: more definitive articles than it should be. We use that way more often in Hungarian than in English, and we are really bad with it.
Why don't you just decline calls with text messages, or just ignore them, or simply mute your phone?
It wasn't a jump. At that time (about a year ago), I already knew that almost all of my traditional PI is leaked (phone numbers, ID numbers, etc), so I tried to prevent to leak my thoughts further. Basically my last non-public PI. And I tried that for years. And I'm quite sure after my trials, that it's impossible without giving up the internet. My traditional PI would leak even if I don't use the internet at all, since for example one time they leaked from my employer at that time. That's a lost cause even with that sacrifice.
You are talking about a network which is used by 10-100-1000 thousands of people. Yet, they knew when I started to play Minecraft. With this logic, I should see Minecraft videos all the time, but I didn't, for over a decade.
Similarly. My browser was carefully containerized, with a ton of anti fingerprinting measures, VPN, Linux, Librewolf, everything. Even on my phone, I restricted whatever possible. Then one day I went to the YouTube main page, and I saw that Google somehow got to know that I played Minecraft again after a decade. I gave up right there. I suffered to avoid this, and it was pointless. I knew at that point already that probably all my PI is public information anyway, but I wanted to restrict whatever possible, and no, everybody sells my data anyway, and it seems that avoiding fingerprinting is impossible without turning off the internet completely, and ditching smart phones.
They have a vested interest to think this way, or say this. Their words' trustworthiness is zero.
> Gypsies aren't a race, what they do is a lifestyle
I said the exact same thing for like 20 years. Until I realized that this thought is utterly racist. Luckily, I was disgusted about myself and my environment where this is a normal thought, and improved, instead of doubling down.
You've just called a behavior based on a name of an ethnic group. You cannot be more racist than that.
