Modern JS frameworks can absolutely catch and isolate errors. In those cases you’d only see the error in the specific component that had the error. Or if they’re a good dev you as a user won’t even know! You’ll see fallback content.

An error blocking the full screen is a failure on the developer not the tools.

Re:"I applied to be pope" on Wednesday May 13, 2026 @11:52AM (#48123559)
It’s a generic error screen from a framework yes.

But the cause of the error is a poor implementation from the developer.

I can write code that errors out in <insert your favorite language here> does that mean it’s bad?

Re:The AI Backlash Could Get Ugly on Wednesday May 13, 2026 @11:50AM (#48123528)
> I am convinced that their talk of UBI is just handwaving

I mean yeah, obviously. You can’t trust a word out of either of their mouths.

Re:"I applied to be pope" on Wednesday May 13, 2026 @11:47AM (#48123472)
This is a poor implementation not a framework problem lol.
Re:LLMs Corrupt Your Documents When You Delegate on Sunday May 10, 2026 @07:23AM (#48082979)
First off, It’s good to study all kinds of things isn’t it? Even if it’s not strictly practical.

Second, and more importantly these AI tools are EVERYWHERE right now. The effects of people using them for work can be seen throughout many industries and workplaces.

So I think studying how these models perform in the vast majority of use cases is not only a good idea, but it’s actually really important.

Even if you’re strictly pro-AI and believe it is the future, a study like this can help you explain to laymen why they need the harnesses you’re so in support of.

Re:LLMs Corrupt Your Documents When You Delegate on Saturday May 09, 2026 @09:31PM (#48080112)
I think you’re living in a bubble if you think the average user of AI even knows what a harness is

The vast majority of people are literally going to chatGPT, pasting in their document and asking for edits.

Nothing against rhythm games.

But actually creating music or playing an instrument is much more rewarding. The time commitment is part of it, the journey is the destination and all that.

They can’t even deliver their own flagship products without bugs, and terrible UX. So I’m doubtful of their abilities.

These are also the same companies allowing their AI to make decisions in war, have no qualms about the mental issues they’re causing in people, and have abused workers in 3rd world countries for years.

But you think they’re holding out on “destroying the software industry” out of the goodness of their hearts? Come on

Re:Nvidia NemoClaw on Thursday March 19, 2026 @06:40AM (#47437254)
Maybe yeah, though I don’t know if practicing restraint is something I would say LLM’s are good at though.

I think to all of the needless comments in code, AI code reviews pointing out inane nitpicks, etc.

It just makes me think your AI assistant is going to be pinging you non stop

Re:Nvidia NemoClaw on Wednesday March 18, 2026 @05:26PM (#47431632)
But isn’t this just another notification to ignore?

The ticket being assigned to you is your “Hey take care of this!” ping, same with the email or text from your friend.

How long until you start tuning out the openclaw notifications?

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not…
Re:Agentic Engineering Patterns on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @08:38AM (#47247237)
The type of dev who is allowing AI to do all of their work does not care about the quality of said work.
That is impressive! Thank you for sharing
Do you really need an AI agent to reboot a computer?

This takes maybe 10 minutes to write a script for…

Apologies if I missed it while skimming your blog post.

But could you estimate the token cost of this? Or were you able to comfortably do this with a subscription plan?

Re:Anthropic ditches its core safety promise on Thursday February 26, 2026 @11:50AM (#47168579)
> Do you really think AI companies/researchers are motivated by greed?

Researchers, maybe not. Companies, absolutely yes.

I don’t see how you could assume the likes of Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and even Anthropic with all their virtue signaling (for lack of a better term) are motivated by anything other than greed.

Re:How we rebuilt Next.js with AI in one week on Wednesday February 25, 2026 @08:18AM (#47151093)
So you think a reasonable interview question would involve spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on tokens?
This sites ties to Thiel and people like him are problematic yes.

However, HN isn’t asking for our ids yet.

Some peoples actions make them evil.
Re:An AI Agent Published a Hit Piece on Me on Thursday February 12, 2026 @12:29PM (#46991860)
The other side of the coin is half the time you do set aside that simple task for a newbie, they paste it into an LLM and learn nothing now.
Re:An AI Agent Published a Hit Piece on Me on Thursday February 12, 2026 @12:03PM (#46991390)
I don’t want to jump to conclusions, or catastrophize but…

Isn’t this situation a big deal?

Isn’t this a whole new form of potential supply chain attack?

Sure blackmail is nothing new, but the potential for blackmail at scale with something like these agents sounds powerful.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were plenty of bad actors running agents trying to find maintainers of popular projects that could be coerced into merging malicious code.

Re:The Singularity Will Occur on a Tuesday on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @11:35AM (#46977121)
I think the idea is that we may not store 2.5 petabytes of facts like wikipedia. But we do store a ton of “data” in the form of innate knowledge, memories, etc.

I don’t think human memory/intelligence maps cleanly to computer terms though.

Re:The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @07:30AM (#46974134)
How is forcing people to have children they don’t want a good outcome?

How about we set up society in such a way that choosing to have children is a more appealing option.

Re:The AI Vampire on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @07:21AM (#46974030)
Nothing is more infuriating at work than when you say something to someone in a message or PR comment, and they just paste the LLM response back to you.
Re:Software Factories and the Agentic Moment on Saturday February 07, 2026 @01:17PM (#46926130)
Right, I understand of course that AI usage and token costs are an investment (probably even a very good one!).

But my point is moreso that saying 1k a day is cheap is ridiculous. Even for a company that expects an ROI on that investment. There’s risks involved and as you said, diminishing returns on software output.

I find AI bros view of the economics of AI usage strange. It’s reasonable to me to say you think its a good investment, but to say it’s cheap is a whole different thing.

Re:Software Factories and the Agentic Moment on Saturday February 07, 2026 @12:58PM (#46925937)
How is 1k/day cheap? Even for a large company?

Takes like this are just baffling to me.

For one engineer that is ~260k a year.

Re:Orchestrate teams of Claude Code sessions on Thursday February 05, 2026 @06:51PM (#46907138)
As a business expense to make profit, I can understand being ok with this price point.

But as an individual with no profit motive, no way.

I use these products at work, but not as much personally because of the bill. And even if I decided I wanted to pursue a for profit side project I’d have to validate it’s viability before even considering a 200$ monthly subscription

> Just ask it to "use only trusted sources".

This is pure LLM brain rot. You can’t “just ask” an LLM to be more reliable.

Re:I miss thinking hard on Wednesday February 04, 2026 @08:34AM (#46885637)
Tech in general, I remember when I was younger thinking the tech world was so cool and different.

I still love the work, but to say I’m disillusioned by the industry is an understatement.

Re:I miss thinking hard on Wednesday February 04, 2026 @08:33AM (#46885624)
I find it fascinating how the “true believers” of AI and AGI, have essentially been manipulated by capitalists to undermine the value of their own labor.
