IrDA was the way to transfer midi ringtones to my Nokia back then. It was so cool to have it on a laptop.
I can. There’s no other equivalent in south east Asia. They are consistent, they are cheap to operators, they have a viable and trusted dealer network and are cheap to purchase with immediate upsides.

Have you priced a similar car like a Toyota vios or Yaris or Honda hrv or brv. These are ICE and gas is what, in the Philippines 2$.gallon?

The only viable alternative that is non Chinese for South east Asia is ironically Vinfast, which are available in the USA and quite ibexpensively.

If you’re biggest claim is the “sear” and the “trunk bedding” you are missing the entire point of what this car is and it’s market position.

But hey, this is how propaganda works.

This is required for Sox compliance and it’s relatively easy to use the pwsh get-aduser.

I would disagree they’re hard to find… lastlogondate yes depending which ad server queries back there used to be an issue but not so much anymore.

So it’s edge dev and debugging mode yeah it’s been super annoying for me too but luckily I just don’t need to use the service and it’s shaped my internet usage.
Tbf it still is the norm in many other companies but… shhhhh
no I was doing a back and forth council with chatgpt and it was fun chatgpt wouldn't do it but deepseek did and it pushed each other further it was really cool

cost me $10 in the end to run it fo about 10 hours straight, since I hit it in daytime hours

mazda or toyota, same tech
register it with mexican plates and drive it over
Interesting, my deepseek session did find it.

Ah I miss the old days of expert sex change.com

To be fair not really but it’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time and all it took was to scroll down to the end of the page to get your answer.

Real 20 year ago internet there.

Ok, but what about Vote + number? As stated so: "On Instagram, a search for the same word showed a GIF reading “Vote 13.”"

It's one thing to discard it as "numerology and gifs" but it's another to willfully disrupt legal elections in a soverign country.

Or is a decade a really long time and we've all forgotten about Cambridge Analytica?

I'll reitierate this again with the openai models, because I have an year and 2 year old android and it should be explitable, Thanks!

I don't understand, how are people using codex for this sort of research? Whenever I try to do bug bounty, research, etc it locks down and I have the "blue" tier access/daylight whatever it's called.

For example I tried to investigate some CVE's on older android roms and it downright was refusing it. It was okay when doing it on... Microsoft and to submit a microsoft bug bounty but android was no go.

Re:Lombok Is Still Relevant in the Age of Java Records on Monday October 19, 2026 @12:56AM (#50148525)
I’ve always been curious as to why Indonesia islands have been the naming convention for this sort of software for a long time.

It’s also funny because there is true irl “dark magic” for Java, Lombok and Bali.

Also surprised there isn’t much mention of Bali in general.

Yeah I was surprised there was a timeline and all
Re:I Became a Citizen of Japan on Saturday October 17, 2026 @05:53PM (#50135490)
Not anymore.
Re:I Became a Citizen of Japan on Saturday October 17, 2026 @05:52PM (#50135484)
The rules changed in 2025, as of q2 2025 it was only a requirement of five years residency within Japan to become naturalized and this route as considered easier than permanent residency.

Everything is now harder. Even business manager visa. So many 夢の日本 have been shattered and pushed into other Asian countries. I’ve also seen a push into Europe , Italy, which also changed the rules last year too which was considered a very easy way to become a European citizen, Canada for Americans protesting Trump, etc.

It really does feel like the prelude or reshuffle of the world balance, open borders, Covid, closing borders, higher qualifications..

Wonder what it all means.

Re:Why are all these data companies buying internal data? on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @11:59AM (#50089745)
Interesting. I understand it’s for forecasting and emulating the same business too. Just didn’t think HHC would be there as Medicare dispursement is the biggest payer and that’s public record so hmmm
Re:Ledger Nano X: the spy implant on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @12:06AM (#50082268)
Exactly, inspiration.
50/50

This is not a new idea.

Several companies/single owner LLC's do this for a massively inflated price.

I understand why the inflated price, support and warranties, etc.

IT is not that hard for people who are technically inclined.

People who are not into it don't understand why.

If placement/marketing was for SMB that wanted to maximize dd-wrt usage and get a support contract in place I can see that

but outside of that, and a marketing youtube channel and being proactive on reddit, Idk how much can it scale and what point will you not get a cease and desist from vendors because I'm sure they have something nasty in their terms of service, which I think you may need to click through to enable the flash.

You've identified your market competiton price points, and all have deeper pockets than you, but do not offer free, open source software.

WRT3200ACM and the other previous model is a fab of mine to grab, it's been a year but I've collected 10+ and deploeyd them in strategic places for personal use,

You wouldn't need regulatory approval IMO. prototyping, what type? You'd follow the release schedule, get the best flavors/models and support those.

Overtime maybe you'd contribute back to the project, especially during hardware revisions. But it is very different from buying used hardware from ebay and flashing it to resell vs buying new and selling it as a value add on.

1. Yes, proper hacker route.

2. Proper route to an extent, it legitmiazes support, warranty and security.

3. Expensive, time consuming but, doable but not likely.

Yeah, the dropbox comment is infamous, but that was about launching a new SAAS that has infinite potential scale and solved a problem no one really wanted to fix at the time outside of one drive (which sucked at the time, was called skydrive afaik) and usb sticks which are...great but USB3 was new, usb2 was there and people were arguing back and forth why usb3 wasn't working or such

so:

to answer your question you need to really figure out a basic marketing question of 3 P's.

Product Price Placement.

Product is DD-WRT. Price: It's free. Placement: People that know what it is but don't have free time to install it?

No, not quite right, right? Let's try again:

Product: DD-WRT routers preconfigured for enterprise support and SMB. Price: Retail price of router + $100 per sold, with 1 yr warranty, additional warranty and stuff available at x and y? Placement: People that know what it is about but don't have free time ot install it or want to offshore this for a price.

Slightly better, but still:

So do I want it? I welcome anything FOSS in general w/ GNU/Linux and its a much needed stepping stone to continue having a decentralized internet:

but if it was so easy, people would've done it already, and they do.

It also reminds me of fontana which is how I netted a free WRT54G for offering what exactly, I don't know, but boy did I flash DD-wrt on that badboy and link it to my neighbors WiFi for free roadrunner internet to get my anime fansubs. So while as much as I'd like for the idea to flourish/am surprised wardriving and torrenting anime was a vector for getting me into tech I don't see it much out of a hobby business

and that is 100% OK

If you throw $5-10k a year at it, I think you can corner the niche, use AI automaiton for marketing campaigns, target tech conventions/festivals (like VCF) and youtube to build a audience it can scale.

but 125k? wow, no way - you ccan really do this for much less.

back to the scope of a opensource router: same as above, but if you really want, you need to find a manufacturer that already has a pre built configuration that at minimum supports the newest radio and minimum gigabit ethernet. GLI has theirs at $169, and hardware is a miminmal markup business, you can really find something similar to that and do a proper hardware cycle with a manufacturer and somewhat a contract but thats 50K including FCC licensing (if you know what to do, and you do the licensing yoruself, as well as Electrek/uL to cover CSPC. But hey, in todays world, everyone (well for past 30 years too) just makes it up and folds thier llc when caught.

For more business minded ideas, heres one about MSO/s and GLP1 from a Ycombinator 3x foudner and I comment with the same dissent:

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49543849

So tl;dr why not pitch it for ycombinator winter, I think it's still open for submissions.

Add AI (why not, right?) and you can have a walking talking configuratuion wizard guide you to addung ublock, adblock, pihole, etc instead of the broken ecosystem we have today within dd-wrt because while I clearly can spot the pain points and issues, I lack the ability to turn them into viable selling points for investors to give me money and I should fix that someday :(

This is a cute reminder from the old days of PRL files on cdma

I really love HN!

Thank you for working on this. You added so much enjoyment to using AIM on an eMac circa that time. People talk fondly of their 90's/80's computing experience, but this was mine. It really was a magical time...

I wish I caught this before my first command, disabled it but not sure what it sent off :c but this is something to enable. It's visible in settings as well, but it does not match what you set on the web portal first even after syncing it.
Re:DeepSeek Harness Desktop for macOS and Windows on Friday October 02, 2026 @09:54AM (#49933555)
so in some research:

deepseek direct is much more cheaper than going through openrouter, openrouter price arbirtages (of course) and has a top up fee and does not pass the discounts that deepseek offer which is 50%+ discount when using it on off hours from beijing time.

meaning USA usage is 12 hours off so you can take advantage off off peak pricing

of course you can ask your ai flavor to tell you this but: open router 5% deposi fee, none direct deepseek does prompt caching for token discounts, openrouter not as easily but there

US daytime usage = automatic 50% discount direct w/ deepseek.
