So is living in more than 10sqm. Gonna cram as much people into one apartment as possible to maximize utilization and make more space for data centers.
Company selling shovels for the gold rush claims they are close to making the largest and bestest shovel. News at 11.
Any machine thick or thin will do. Just write code so it uses resources properly and maybe, just maybe write it by hand unless you unhooked your brain and leave it to a hallucinating ma ch one that needs a “harness” to remotely do what you want.
And I’d rather “lug around a 2.5kg diving board” than using a fuckton of water and power in some remote data center thank you.
What can go wrong with allocating memory based on user input….I wonder….
I have 3 M8s (2 v1, 1 v2) but they are not with me 100% of the time so the iOS version has been an absolute blessing. Tim is a coding powerhouse.
It makes the code way less auditable and more prone to bugs and errors. Or let the kernel change its paging mechanism and now your fucking “yes” tool needs an update to be “efficient”. The tool has one job…print yes or another word you give it. It by definition does not have to optimized to oblivion. Same goes for echo.
It’s arsinine to optimize it to that level instead of just keeping it readable and maintainable. And portable.
The gnu version is 100% not easily portable because it has assumptions about the underlying kernel.
The 99% use case is for just `yes` though. That is optimized for such a niche corner-case...
Came here to look for M8 mentions. That firmware is just pure magic.
If Ubuntu offers LTS and is catering to business it is very much open to criticism. They can take it or leave it, but anyone is entitled to an opinion about it.
I mean....insert Linux distro of any kind. Yes, hardware support is good, but most distros are otherwise pretty awful in many other regards now.
Thinkpad + Trackpad sounds all kinds of wrong. See that glorious red knob in the middle and those 3 buttons above the trackpad? That is what god intended. Now go and spin up some Emacs and a Sly + SBCL session and do the lord's work!
And once Anthropic has an outage you gonna be what...twiddling your thumbs?
So any cuck-coding machine serves the purpose?
First of all they need to offer shipping to anything but US / CA and parts of Europe. Would love to give them a shot but they seem to absolutely refuse to ship to Japan.
And honestly, I am still daily driving that x220 with NetBSD and a T480 with OpenBSD and they do everything I need. Also running a Panasonic SV7 with OpenBSD.
All of them definitely not current gen beasts but if I can't make my shit run there, then what the hell am I even doing?
An old x220 (which I have), but a bit more modern and fully OpenBSD supported would be my dream.
Absolutely. Many CL libraries when you see them on Github have last been updated 10 or 15 years ago. In most cases it just means they are done and done need further updates.
And CL is just an absolute joy to develop with. Definitely my "stranded on an island" language.
2 trillion $ companies should have the money to pay for these exploits. If they don’t, go tucking exploit them. If they don’t give a fuck about stealing knowledge from copyrighted material and private git repos, light em up.
Gotta give the AIs some new original material to learn from, eh?
Move to Game of Trees and the integrated gotwebd, move on, have a happy life.
Vote with your wallet. Fuck them.
You shouldn’t have to use LLMs to run your software.
Give it another 6-12 months until the big AI shops shut those capabilities down and running local ones becomes cost prohibitive.
Maybe it is in the fine-print of the user agreement.
MP support for VMM/VMD is huuuuge.
> Yes, absolutely. But denying their obvious capabilities is not a very effective way to do that.
> I don't see much thought-through analysis from the anti-AI crowd. That seems to have a lot to do with the fact that they're not actually very familiar with the technology, from either a practical or theoretical perspective.
So you imply that anyone anti-AI is not actually familiar with the technology? So only a true Scotsman is able to appreciate the beauty of AI?
> the machines that are smarter than they are
Depends on your definition of smart.
> Also, point of order: "The satire was apparently lost on you" makes no sense, since I wrote the comment and it wasn't intended as satire.
I'll just let that stand for itself and encourage you to read the thread again if it's not beyond your context window.
Yes. The firmware blobs get downloaded at the end of the install via `fw_update`.
Just be sure you understand the code 100% before sending it.
