Re:A Very Simple Genetic Algorithm Written in Swift 3 on Friday November 11, 2016 @02:01PM (#12933298)
Yep, replaced string with Int array and now it is much faster.

https://gist.github.com/rookie/3d9a848c6fefacc4254da921da79b...

It now runs faster (when compiled, optimized) than the python code.

xcrun -sdk macosx swiftc -O gen.swift

My guess it is all of the string converting back and forth to character arrays.

Re:How to get 4 to 5 stars on the App Store on Sunday March 06, 2011 @10:10PM (#2295830)
I also had awesome results from asking for reviews using appirater. I have mine set for 20 days and 20 uses. (They will not be asked to review until they have been using it for at least 20 days and have used the app at least 20 times)

I now have over 50 reviews for the current version with a 4-5 star average.

Re:26% of AT&T iPhone Owners Going to Verizon on Monday January 17, 2011 @01:54PM (#2113003)
Dear AT&T customers, All the great things you hear about Verizon are completely true. Please, move over to their network - it's really amazing, I swear! That's why I'm still an ATT customer. I mean, er...

Signed, An ATT Subscriber excited about AT&T refugees freeing up some bandwidth.

Looks like it's already loading slow.

Re:Why your child's school bus has no seat belts on Wednesday December 29, 2010 @02:21PM (#2049824)
Yeah, and not only extremely expensive but because of things like misuse, what if the addition of seatbelts actually results in more deaths?
Re:Why your child's school bus has no seat belts on Wednesday December 29, 2010 @01:49PM (#2049701)
> "six children die each year in bus accidents"

Those seem to be ridiculously good numbers and back up everything stated in this article. I would worry that making ANY changes could actually increase that number.

Re:Poll: How old were you when you started programming? on Wednesday December 29, 2010 @11:49AM (#2049251)
TI Basic on my TI-83+ in high school math class at around age 15 or so. Didn't get to real programming until college.

Re:Apple's Best Kept Secret: Ad Hoc Installs for Testing Purposes on Wednesday December 15, 2010 @09:00PM (#2010822)
I have been very very impressed with what the guys have at http://www.testflightapp.com

I have been using it in beta for a while now and it has never been easier to get testers updated. And their UUIDs back to me.

And especially without being convicted of anything yet.

Very disgusting and shocking to learn of this.

Re:TapZilla (YC S10) Offers Daily Deals For Paid Mobile Apps on Wednesday October 13, 2010 @06:28PM (#1789143)
It mentions that they have plans for an Android version. That is a much more difficult area to venture into because of the 24 hour refund.

- I get the discount on the app paid out then return the app. Free money!

Overall I do like the idea, very useful.

Re:Lets make November "Launch an App Month", who's with me? on Saturday October 09, 2010 @01:26AM (#1774413)
Awesome goal. Starting small is definitely the way to do it. I just went through that same process and now the Android app is making me a little bit of side income. Good luck!
Re:Ask HN: Feedback on a couple of startup ideas on Friday October 08, 2010 @02:11PM (#1772654)
Number 1. http://www.cardpool.com has started doing similar. (but not competing with your ideas) When you buy one of their cards they will instantly email you the card's details so that you can use it online while they send you the physical card in case you want to use it in a brick and mortar.

Number 2. I would take a look at http://www.foodspotting.com for a potential source for an initial image database. Providing a professional photographer would also help.

They both will require quite a bit of footwork to get enough restaurants to buy in on the idea. Good luck if you decide to do either of them.
