Funny you bring Leon Theremin up. I just showed a friend of mine The Thing[0] today.

Many moons ago an acquaintance did a somewhat similar project finding default title "mic in track.mp3" files on music sharing services that were created using MusicMatch Jukebox.

Seconded ^
Offtopic, but `zack_overflow` is an excellent username.

Seconded.
A watch folder is a feature of Calibre as well.

The new CEO's last name is Bowser which is less amazing, but more amazingly apropos.
Re:Cancelling Dropbox Pro is hard on Friday January 25, 2019 @05:16PM (#19003100)
This was very similar to my experience when cancelling my Amazon Prime account a week ago. It was at least five pages of trying to talk me out of it and the 'continue cancelling' was similarly the more obscure/non-obvious button.

It makes it feel like a very shady process without being outright deceptive.

Have mercy.
Re:VNC Roulette on Saturday March 26, 2016 @10:04PM (#11368516)
Well, this made me do a sweep on my servers to make sure I didn't have VNC running. Tag as PSA!
Re:Ledger, a command-line accounting system on Wednesday November 11, 2015 @12:50PM (#10547955)
To my knowledge I am the sole user of my QuickLedger project -- so I'd be very interested to hear how it works for another's use case. Any feedback would be great! If you fork I'd like to know so I can see what someone does with it.

Sorry, I am not used to commenting here and didn't realise it wouldn't notify me.

I use Prompt by Panic http://www.panic.com/prompt/ on my iPhone to do SSH sessions. Since it was hard for me to type in entries to my Ledger data file I put together a script with Python that could have stored merchants and just sort of make the process easier.

I can type in `ql -m sd -t 50` and it will add a full entry for the grocery store that I frequent. The project on Github is here: https://github.com/robotmachine/QuickLedger

To clarify, it is just a command line tool that I made with mobile SSH in mind-- not a mobile app. Hope that helps.

I have been using Ledger for a long time and it has really been a wonderful tool. The reports are great. I even made a little Python script so I can easily make entries from terminal on my phone!
Re:Do you have a secret? on Wednesday August 01, 2012 @02:56PM (#4324876)
No, I don't have a secret. That isn't really what privacy is about. You don't have to have something to hide in order to not want everything you do/say and everywhere you go tracked. This makes it seem like everyone is hiding a folder full of kiddie porn or emails from their other girlfriend and therefore that is why you should care about privacy protection.
It is joke. When there is bad news, some people make light. It helps them cope with reality.
I don't think I'll be giving Wired my IP. The lawsuit probably has a 'guilty conscience' clause and I'll be added just for thinking that I might be involved.
Re:The page is live to request an invite to Google Music on Tuesday May 10, 2011 @03:54PM (#2533869)
They lost me at 'upload your music'. I'd rather not put everything on their servers...

I'll stick to subsonic.org

Re:Sony loses 12,700 credit card numbers on Monday May 02, 2011 @07:38PM (#2508368)
Can someone please remind me to only deal with Sony in cash from here on out?

If they 'lose' that it isn't my problem.

The Google app for iPhone also has 'Google Goggles' and it works just as well. Quite impressive!
Re:Ask HN: f & t logos are everywhere, but for how long? on Thursday March 24, 2011 @11:41PM (#2367134)
So was MySpace. So will be the next big thing and the one after that.
