As an aside, this is the first I heard about [tech houses](https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/21/technology/agi-house-ai-c...). So far, they don't. . . sound great.
Most countries with a standard of living that even barely better than their neighbors have an immigration problem. There is a whole continent call Europe that is fighting off migrates and last I checked, birthright citizenship is not a thing there.
Re:US Consumer Price Index up 4.2% on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @12:23PM (#48478681)
And eggs! Don't forget about the eggs!
It is worse than that. Companies are killing their EV models and discontinuing [sedans](https://www.autoblog.com/features/these-automakers-no-longer...) in favor of trucks and SUVs.

<nevermind, I see the filter for size>
Re:Notice of Collective Action Lawsuit Against Workday, INC on Monday January 26, 2026 @03:57PM (#46771412)
> Fundamental fairness requires that if an automated system denies you a loan, a house, or a job, it be able to explain something you can challenge, fix, or at least understand.

That could get interesting, as most companies will not provide feedback if you are denied employment.

Re:Gas Town Decoded on Sunday January 18, 2026 @08:04PM (#46673891)
The overuse of metaphors makes me feel like this person is trying to reinvent Chef, but for AI.
Re:Ask HN: Could you share your personal website here? on Thursday January 15, 2026 @01:47PM (#46637196)
Here is mine:

Just reactivated it recently and mostly updating it daily with links and short pity comments.

Another hot take: maybe we will see a spike of compiles languages like Go, Rust and WASM, over Python, Ruby, and Node.
Re:Microsoft Office renamed to "Microsoft 365 Copilot app" on Monday January 05, 2026 @09:56AM (#46499474)
Related, somewhat, but I am moving away from Microsoft Office and to Apple's Pages/Numbers/Keynote/FreeForm, mostly because they are free and they are good enough.
Re:Remembering Lou Gerstner on Sunday December 28, 2025 @04:05PM (#46414493)
I got complicated feelings about that. He did help pave the way for Linux, but he also killed OS/2.
Re:Debian's Git Transition on Monday December 22, 2025 @11:28AM (#46355514)
I always thought that Debian is already on git, so this confused me. How is source control currently (or was) done with the Debian project?
Re:Postfix Macros and Let Place on Friday December 19, 2025 @04:23PM (#46331106)
This feel suspiciously like the sendmail-fiction of postfix. I don't know if that is a good thing.

EDIT: Not really, but it still feels like adding unneeded

Re:Tim Cook could step down as Apple CEO 'as soon as next year on Saturday November 15, 2025 @05:57PM (#45941245)
Person probably issued Apple laptops from work, which, funny enough is probably why they get performance issues, as work is going to drop in the usual CPU killing anti-virus and other corporate tooling.
Re:Ask HN: What are people doing to get off of VMware? on Sunday October 19, 2025 @03:10PM (#45637003)
Can you explain why I shouldn't use OpenShift?
Re:AWS Service Availability Updates on Monday October 13, 2025 @06:40PM (#45574101)
Where will the money and resources to develop AWS AI come from? Not from Incident Manager, that is for certain.

I can see Marley and Paradis!
Re:Did California's Fast Food Minimum Wage Reduce Employment? on Saturday August 09, 2025 @06:31PM (#44850946)
This does feel like we are going back to the beginning of how fast-food started (minus the large crew of people)[0]

All that is left is to have law-enforcement round up homeless/unhoused person move them into those camps and we will officially be in the Star Trek timeline.
Re:Apple is turning The Oregon Trail into a movie on Tuesday October 29, 2024 @11:05AM (#41984575)
We can be certain for one thing in the movie: Somebody is going to die from dysentery.

Re:IBM nearing a buyout deal for HashiCorp, source says on Tuesday April 23, 2024 @02:26PM (#40135350)
I know at least one person who left Red Hat for HashiCorp. I could imagine how they feel to be back(ish)
Re:How did customer service get so bad? on Sunday April 21, 2024 @11:57AM (#40106738)
The funny thing is that these days, people are paying more (thanks to inflation) for products and services while customer care is getting worse.
I am certain that this is going to eliminate most beef and poultry products. The meat-industrial-complex will not be pleased.
Re:What Is WebTV? on Monday March 04, 2024 @10:08PM (#39599033)
I feel bad for not feeling bad that I laughed at this. Every. time.
Re:The Far Side – By Gary Larson on Wednesday January 31, 2024 @05:41PM (#39210452)
I feel wicked laughing at this.
