Speaking of bank infrastructure, where can I find more information about it? I remember an HN thread from a while ago that led me into a rabbit hole about how ACH works and it was fascinating. I’m not even sure which keywords to search that would get me started…

Have you ever worked in an IT support position? It’s stunningly common and accurate

They change and break Outlook regularly, and the only communication channel is a random Microsoft employee on a support forum
I wish they would leave it alone but they are changing things for change’s sake

Second the disagree. As someone who supports users on Outlook on a daily basis, my anecdata is that it’s a buggy, abused, flaming dumpster fire
Perhaps it’s users who misuse it (think document management with 100gb+ inboxes) but a lot of times the solution for Outlook issues is to reinstall the whole Office suite since it’s just kinda one package now

"ultra" right wing
Low taxes and people valuing the rule of law is not "ultra right wing"

Is Germany considered central Europe? I had always put them as Western, besides maybe the eastern most parts?

Literally "consultant affair" so consultant-gate isn't a bad translation

Tell me about it - I work a support desk for an MSP; all Windows. I can't tell you how many times I've struggled with file permissions or partitions that I know would be very easy to fix in a *sh shell... Imagine being told "access denied" when you're running the command prompt as "administrator"!

I agree with it being familiarity. I grew up with Macs in school, and have been using them since OS 8 and 9, some experience with System 7 (uncommon for how young I am). There's lot and lots of little details that have carried on throughout all the years that just seem "normal" to me.
I find myself facing inconsistent and surprising behaviors with Windows despite it being my primary OS at work.
Growing up with Mac and Linux makes Windows seem quite strange :)

I barely even notice it now. I’ve been a Mac user since OS 8, and the workflow of mounting a disk image to install software has been around since before OS 8. Regular .pkg installers catch me off guard sometimes

Very high end devices (the size of a printing press) will sometimes have spot color capabilities, for finishes like neon colors or clear coating

Inkjet has far superior color reproduction to laser. Even the highest end production color laser copiers can't do the same level of color matching that inkjet can
As for home/office use, yes inkjets are a huge scam
