From my experience last few days:

- Please don't post comments saying not wearing a condom is a bad idea

- Please don't post comments saying communism is not wonderful

- Please don't post comments saying OpenAI is not wonderful

'etc

I don't accept your criticisms and your phony politeness. You are being obtuse and turning a blind eye to real problems.

Certainly you are entitled to your opinions as I am to mine. Piling on however is lame and cowardly and as far from kind as is imaginable.

Try and start a proper discussion on these issues and see how far you'll get.

I'm very well aware of the guidelines - they are simply not enforced anymore. Instead they are now abused by a small cabal to bully and clobber others.

And a multitude of other posters feel the same way.

Thanks for letting me know. I disagree. It has turned into exactly reddit and for the same reasons.

You do better.

A 50KW battery is <$10,000.

Sounds like he is allowed to sell excess back to the grid and payback period would be <20 years. They are warranted for longer. If financing is available it is basically free. ;)

Big if that but more realistically the real kicker here is that all of that is about x3 larger than what most households need.

I get that not everybody has $10k laying around to plop down on panels/batteries all in one go but if you do you can get off the grid now.

#facts.

But also, nope.

There is no suddenly here. It goes back to the 1940s and is a key technology. It became practical outside the lab in the 50s in a rather well known and celebrated moment.

There was this guy who put them on the roof of the White House in the 1970s.

And the various types have had massive amount of research and slow and steady progress since the 90s.

Nothing is suppressed you can go read all the research and details. You are simply surfing the yield curve of a mature technology in a predictable manner now, enjoy.

Also, get off TikTok and read a book.

You are clearly discussing this in good faith, thank you.

> In other words, most people making environmental arguments against animal agriculture are not trying to trick you.

Sadly ven diagram of animal rights advocates, clueless do gooders and environmentalists overlaps greatly.

Bad faith arguments emerge not only by extremists but also by people eager to be part of the movement with no capacity for independent thought. These things take root and become "common knowledge" within the communities.

They don't need to be actively trying to trick me to muddy the waters with their own, however well intentioned, confusion.

We are still dealing with metaphysical arguments - note you didn't provide any numbers or scale or externalities or consideration towards second order effects or unintended consequences.

I can give a contrived example in the other direction (as its easier to recognize the obvious flaws):

Cars bad. Bicycles good. Clearly. Bike lane therefore must be good. Now you get a dozen guys in spandex burning extra calories and compensating by consuming far more burgers than they otherwise would have. And far worse traffic idling their engines at less efficent stop-and-go low speeds for longer.

What was actually accomplished in terms of CO2? We should ban all bicycles instead.

There is no cure for stupid.

I could spoon feed more details about this incident but if they are already going out of their way to avoid reality there is nothing to do but avoid them.

Re:Sheryl Crow: 'Resurrecting Tupac with AI Is Hateful' on Saturday June 22, 2024 @11:53AM (#40759927)
Sheryl Crow is expressing things a little less than eloquently here.

Try Rick Beato. A favorite teacher on YouTube discussing how AI generated music is towards the end of the climb out of the uncanny valley already.

The tune had been haunting London for weeks past. It was one of countless similar songs published for the benefit of the proles by a sub-section of the Music Department. The words of these songs were composed without any human intervention whatever on an instrument known as a versificator. But the woman sang so tunefully as to turn the dreadful rubbish into an almost pleasant sound.

Did we settle the amount of CO2 cow farts produce? Whatever happened to that one?

Edit: Yes friends, I mean Methane. I was breathleshly and aggressivly told the only solution is for me to not eat meat anymore. End of discussion.

This seems rather similar to some green people demanding nuclear power plants be shut down.

All I ask of people who have a fear of nuclear power is to be upfront about their motivations. Similarly if you are vegetarian who is religious about getting others to consume less meat please don't try and sneak it by burying it in CO2 concerns. It is disingenuous and counterproductive to your own cause ultimately.

Turns out methane from cows is not "still a problem". I encourage those of you who don't need it to be true to refresh your understanding on this matter.

If your concern is really CO2 that is in fact "good news".

Nice try, never change. There are even Russian documentaries on it on YouTube.
> Actually what you’re hoping to avoid is authoritarianism

Tankies group flag and downvote negative comments about communism and anything else they don't like. As you can see here on full display.

Have a wonderful day.

Indeed. He knew going up that it will most likely happen and literally demanded an open casket "so everyone will see what they did to me".

If you ever come across a bright teenager getting lulled into communism keep this in mind as a very edifying example of the pitfalls of that system. The recordings are chilling.

The ones who watch that recording and sort of pause and after a minute double down that the ends justify the means are a lost cause.

Look up Vladimir Komarov recordings sometimes. Lets hope it doesn't get to that point.
The unfathomable part is you getting downvotes for citing a well known mainstream news story.
To a first approximation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZB7xEonjsc

Less funny in real life. Sometimes the jizzless thing falls off with impeccably bad timing. Right when things go boom. People get injured (no deaths yet). Limp home early. Allies let down. Shipping routes elongate by a sad multiple. And it even affects you directly as you pay extra for that Dragon silicon toy you ordered from China.

I salute your ability to discuss this topic irreligiously and from a place of knowledge.
How long retired? Things have gone in what can only be described as an.. incomprehensible unfathomable direction in the last decade or so. Parent post is not surprising in the least.

Politics is seeping where it doesn't belong.

I am very worried.

Woz had that figured out ages ago.

That's not actually enough. You also very carefully need to avoid the Blub Paradox.

Not sure if spelling mistake.

According to Lindy's Law this means I'll be ready to switch to Wayland no sooner than 2065.
