Re:US Housing Supply – What happens when all the boomers die? on Saturday November 18, 2023 @08:26AM (#38319298)
Homes allow for families to be established, families consume resources. So even if you found a way to build a home that’s more environmentally friendly, it’s still requires land which requires clear cutting of forests. And the family itself will need to eat which means the killing of more animals.

If everyone on the planet owned their own home, the only place you would be able to see a tree would be a museum.
Re:A Coder Considers the Waning Days of the Craft on Tuesday November 14, 2023 @05:47AM (#38261636)
I’ve always saw computers as a means to an end. Even in the bladerunner movies no one is sitting around pecking at a phone or a pc keyboard, it’s just holographic AI they talk to and interface with. And that’s the future of technology. Eventually you might do some sort of brain interface and be a cyborg. Who knows but the truth is, we nearing the end of humans needing to sit down and actually write code.
Re:Monsters of the Road: What Should the UK Do About SUVs? on Sunday November 05, 2023 @06:44AM (#38150283)
They exist for a reason. Some people have more to haul than just groceries.
The cultural collapse thats killing the internet has nothing to do with google.
at least in europe the taxes go to something beneficial like college and healthcare for everyone. in CA it just goes to feed bums and beaurecrats.
gotta pay for all those illegals that jumped the fence last month. do yourself a favor and leave. let that state figure out how to keep all those bums alive without any tax revenue.

Dont know what the author is babbling about, the old web is an improvement over the garbage design we have today.
Re:FTC Sues Amazon for Illegally Maintaining Monopoly Power on Wednesday September 27, 2023 @08:14AM (#37673536)
Human labor has little value in the age of chatgpt and onlyfans. Did you know there are teenage girls selling bottles of their dirty bathwater for more money than the average blue collar worker makes in a month. As time goes on, its starting to look like this whole free market thing isnt such a good idea anymore.
Re:The Pirate Bay Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary on Tuesday September 19, 2023 @08:35AM (#37569044)
20 years of being inferior to gnutella in every way imaginable.
Re:Why aren’t we giving Ukraine what it needs? on Thursday September 14, 2023 @05:20AM (#37506672)
We need to send Ukraine and Israel a bill for services rendered. Our roads and bridges are starting to look like haiti.
Not excited at all unless we figure out lightspeed travel.
Re:Open Source Windows, ReactOS, Running on a Steam Deck on Thursday September 14, 2023 @05:05AM (#37506582)
Nice to see one of these alt OSes running on at least some bare metal.
Re:TSMC Arizona chip plant will be a paperweight on Wednesday September 13, 2023 @01:16PM (#37499096)

Re:Wayland Isn't Going to Save the Linux Desktop (2022) on Friday September 08, 2023 @10:49AM (#37434213)
Can you not read the article?
Not in the same way the military has though. Civillians mostly just film lights in the sky that could be anything.
Re:Wayland Isn't Going to Save the Linux Desktop (2022) on Thursday September 07, 2023 @12:56PM (#37421918)
2023 and Linux is still struggling to achieve the same level of basic functionality that windows and mac have had for decades now.
Re:Texas paid Bitcoin miner Riot $31.7M to shut down in August on Thursday September 07, 2023 @12:44PM (#37421747)
Ethereum accomplishes the same thing without using the power of a small country.
UFOs are a man made hoax. No one thinks its strange that its always classified and the only people that ever really see ufos and get them on video just happen to be military personnel. Lol thats pretty convenient. So what the aliens are just traveling god knows how many lightyears away just so they reveal themselves to government personnnel exclusively? Get real…
Re:Using disposable phone numbers for better security on Thursday September 07, 2023 @08:38AM (#37418033)
Or you could just use apps like session that never require a phone number in the first place.
Re:Two years of Bitcoin in Bukele’s El Salvador on Saturday September 02, 2023 @09:53AM (#37361550)
There are so many better coins out there than bitcoin, some even provide better privacy and faster speeds but bitcoin was the first so it keeps limping on under its first mover advantage. Using over it other coins is like everyone choosing to use the Ford model A over a car made today. Its just silly.
I cancelled my home internet, got tired of haggling with them every month. I’m posting this from my phone which i also tether to my laptop when needed.
Im so sick of these bike nazis. Im sorry but not every town and city is designed so everyone can ride a bike 5 minutes from their house. Some of us live many miles from where we work or where the nearest store is, some of us are crippled or elderly so doing so would not be feasble anyway.

As usual the modern day extremist protestor is all emotion and no logic.

Re:It's Time to Abolish the University on Thursday August 17, 2023 @06:56AM (#37159772)

Re:We Ruined Status LEDs; Here’s Why That Needs to Change on Thursday August 17, 2023 @06:51AM (#37159742)
The smartphone is the single biggest piece of regressive technology ever made. We would all be better off without them.
Re:BRICS gold-backed currency coming in August on Thursday July 13, 2023 @08:08AM (#36707923)
It worked just fine until the government confiscated the peoples gold and issued them pieces of paper with a lien attached to each note.

You talk as if people will be carrying gold bars around for payment, it doesnt work that way. As long as joe nobody can go to the bank and redeem his gold then there will be trust in the financial institution securing it.

Everyone should host their own site from home. Otherwise there is no internet, its just everyone connecting to a handful of VPS providers.
If there were millions or even thousands using 4chan the board would be moving so fast as soon as you found a thread to post in it would have been trimmed from the board. And 4chan is THE most popular image board.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news bud, but their isnt as many people online as you think there are.

The internet is so lame and boring now days, its become so predictable and routine. I remember the internet back in the 90s and 00s, it was a completely different place, it felt massive and mysterious like each door you opened led to a another universe with all kinds of stuff going on, discussions on any topic you could fathom were taking place 24/7 all the time. Now we have discord servers with hundreds of users but no one speaks.. the cool myspace culture that promoted individualism and self expression has been replaced by the souless uniformed facebook experience. Rather than being able to speak your mind you have to walk on egg shells everywhere you go now as to not upset the corporations or status quo mentality.

The internet was the mysterious wild west, Now its just a boring corporate meeting room.
