Re:Your Phone Is About to Stop Being Yours: 70 Days Until Lockdown

With SafetyNet the phone already hasn't been yours for years. Banking apps and weirdly a lot of public transit apps and random games refuse to work on rooted phones. I'd switch to iPhone but that's even worse, if there's an actual open phone ecosystem let me know.

Hmm, I hadn't considered additions to existing plants versus greenfield plants, fair point. Presumably those have less local resistance and permitting issues considering it only took fifteen years from application to generating power. Guess there's probably a market in selling existing datacenters to the hyperscalers to expand them!

Although to be fair, when was the last time we actually managed to build a new nuclear plant?

It's cheaper if you have multiple computers with normal amounts of data though. My whole family is on my B2 account (Duplicati backing up eight computers each to a separate bucket), and it's $10/month.

As I recall pseudoloc is just randomly picking individual characters to substitute that look like the Latin letters to keep it readable for testing, so it would be something like рг (Cyrillic) ο (Greek)... etc, and can change from run to run. It would also artificially pad or shorten terms to catch cases where the (usually German) term would be much longer or a (usually CJK) term would be much shorter and screw up alignment or breaks.

Nintendo is going to be doing digital game lending now so that's an interesting addition. I'll probably still buy physical since the first-party games hold their value so well.

I mean, Gruber is a clown and as far as he's concerned everything Apple has ever done is pure and right and everyone else is sad and wrong. If you're actually trying to engage with him on technical merits you're going to have a bad time.

Treaties specifically have to be approved by Congress and have approximately the same force of law and durability as the Constitution. Lately we mostly do "executive agreements" instead, which do not require Congressional approval and can pretty much be ignored on a whim by the next president. We could go back to treaties but considering Congress has given up so much of their responsibility to executive agencies because they can't even pass laws, it seems unlikely.

Paying the bribe is better individually though. I'd even agree if you said Global Entry is only $30 more because your fingerprints are part of the payment.

I think a lot of the recent trading apps marketed to consumers give you a margin account by default though, I know Robinhood does. If you request a cash account you lose instant deposits and trading and have to wait for everything to clear normally.

America's requirements (https://www.finra.org/investors/investing/investment-product...):
> pattern day traders must maintain minimum equity of $25,000 in their margin account on any day that the customer day trades
> pattern day traders cannot trade in excess of their "day-trading buying power"
> If a pattern day trader exceeds the day-trading buying power limitation, a firm will issue a day-trading margin call, after which the pattern day trader will then have, at most, five business days to deposit funds to meet the call.

Doesn't the definition of background actor preclude being in SAG though? I thought extras had to be in three or four productions in a year before they got their SAG cards.
