Re:On Writing a C++ Book on Monday July 29, 2019 @08:46AM (#20553980)
Primer is a really dry reference. It was too boring for me to read it in order. Too many details on not very fun topics from the beginning.

Re:Go is Google's language, not ours on Wednesday May 22, 2019 @04:17PM (#19985017)
I meant that go's append idiom to reallocate array behind the scenes seems to me somewhat complicated and error-prone.

This is incorrect technically. Oracle has already won API copyrightability claim. http://www.wsj.com/articles/supreme-court-denies-google-appe...

The trial now is about Google's "fair use" of those APIs.

Re:State of the Haskell ecosystem on Monday August 17, 2015 @10:11AM (#10073048)
I think the rating difference between sections "application domains" and "common programming" illustrates clearly what is known as "academia language", i.e. advanced, mature features and lack of real application stories and libraries.

Re:GitHub.com is officially banned in Russia by the Government on Thursday October 02, 2014 @01:53PM (#8402041)
Seemingly some providers banned the whole domain because a suicide themed page was uploaded there. I can access github.com freely at Moscow though atm.

Re:Land of Lisp: Learn to Program in Lisp, One Game at a Time on Friday October 15, 2010 @03:14PM (#1795831)
I've used slimv a bit to play with Common Lisp. It's very handy for sending sexps from vim to repl. Not sure about advanced emacs' slime/swank features. I think it's difficult to find a person which used both editors for Lisp coding to make a meaningful comparison.

I've found slimv.vim not bad for CL after all http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=2531
