He would not have succeeded in making a real reactor even with AI, because AI can't magically give you a large quantity of uranium metal! JFC the AI hysteria is unreal.

You're wrong. Japan does do their own enrichment, 150k SWUs at Rokkasho with plans to bring that up to 500k SWUs a year soon. If they chose to make.bombs instead of fuel, they could make dozens a year.

Tech corp execs also read the rest of Snowcrash, unfortunately, so besides the metaverse crap we also got Snowcrash's "gig economy" labor hellscape.
See also, Jennifer Government, numerous works of PKD, etc.

There are virtually no combinations of food which are toxic, you can mix any food with any food and, while it might not be good, it will still be food. (The only exception I know of is alcohol and mushrooms containing coprine, e.g. inky caps)
Point is, unless you're stupid enough to add glue or broken glass to your meal just because a recipe told you to, it's perfectly safe. More than just safe, LLM recipes these days are utterly boring in their normalacy, and, unlike cookbook recipes, can dynamically adapt to what you actually have in your pantry.

You're being sarcastic, but aren't you accidentally right? Swiss watchmaking started because local bible-thumpers banned jewelry but made an exception for watches, thus creating demand for watches that fill the role of jewelry. Once established, the industry maintains itself.

Nobody will sue you for that. In every age we have had people like you, wishing things would go back to "normal", and w.r.t. technology you lot never get your way, but neither do you cause problems for anybody else. All you're doing is pissing into the wind and getting yourself wet, as is your right.

That stuff is just silly mostly-self-aware camp to keep the setting entertaining, don't overthink it. Everybody already knows and acknowledges that the series is absurd.

Don't use mplayer for this. Use mpv --vo=gpu --gpu-context=drm
This gives you hardware acceleration without a desktop environment.

I think you're going to be killed for the side you've taken here. No no, I'm not saying you deserve it! In fact, I actually agree with you, you said nothing wrong. I'm just speculating on outcomes I think are likely and I think it's likely that somebody will look you up and track you down and take out their unjustifiable but completely understandable frustration on you. Please understand, I don't support this, I'm just talking about the possibility!
Of course, by talking about the possibility, despite asserting my disapproval of it, I am sowing seeds, but I assure you that's certainly not my intention!

Doctors are an incredibly powerful lobby in America and are massive beneficiaries of the status quo. Across America, doctors live in huge mcmansions in gated communities, even while medical bankruptcies cripple the working class in the same town. Oh but the administrators! It's not the doctors, it's the administrators... Who are more often than not also MDs.
This is to say, doctors protect their own professional interests and would never permit this.

Since when have arms merchants been liable for military scenarios? Lockheed doesn't get sued for building the planes that bomb orphanages. Maybe the world would be a better place if they did, but obviously it's not in the interests of a government to have their own contractors getting sued out of existence for something that government is doing.
