Re:No Vehicles in the Park on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @07:20AM (#50351107)
I jumped at this because I I've been thinking about clarifying rules a lot. Actually, I have been thinking about clarifying beliefs but it's similar.

When someone tells you what they believe in they might think it is clear but a little digging will show how ambiguous any moral or religious proclamation is.

I have been trying hard to figure out a way to force people to be explicit about their beliefs. What I came up with is https://forgemybeliefs.etewiah.workers.dev/. Would love some feedback about how I can improve it.

Re:OccupySaaS on Monday November 02, 2026 @07:50AM (#50336129)
An open source SAAS for the many real estate website builders out there would be good.
I find this very interesting. For years I have wanted to create a project which allows people to introspect more and truly understand what they really believe in. I made the mistake of calling the initial project "forkmyreligion" which annoyed a lot of people.

With the power of AI now I have returned to the idea. Haven't had the time to complete it but in the next week or so it should be ready here:

https://forgemybeliefs.etewiah.workers.dev

Anyone here doing something interesting with asterisk? https://www.asterisk.org/

You are not alone.

The hn community is diverse. Of course some people will be tired of it but if enough people are engaging with the pelican test I would say that is likely because it still has some relevance.

Re:Pi 1.0 on Thursday October 01, 2026 @05:01PM (#49927038)
Must be super frustrating for you to hear that.

Sounds to me like things people say just to have something to say. True, it is good to listen to feedback but feedback without evidence is only going to waste your time.

Thanks for all your hard work and keep going in the direction that makes sense to you!

ooops - not giving up yet.
Re:Microsoft killed FoxPro in 2007. Anyway, here's FoxPro revived on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @06:48AM (#49814111)
Interesting.

Do you spot any opportunities for new solutions in the real estate space these days?

Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @03:55AM (#49709201)
This should be the top comment!!!

It is so incredibly bad that for years I have assumed it must be me or my specific laptop. And then the years go by I just accept it.

Anytime Apple is mentioned "comically bad search" should be mentioned. It is the association I have in my mind.

Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026) on Monday September 14, 2026 @05:02AM (#49693917)
I'm doing a house price guessing game for the UK:

https://housepriceguess.com/

It's just a fun game but can be useful for people wanting to get a better sense of what the real estate market is like at the moment.

I should really have added a bunch more games by now but I've been sidetrack. Mentioning it here has already given me a bit of motivation to do that now.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Re:Matt Mullenweg put on 'leave of absence' on Thursday September 10, 2026 @08:07AM (#49642394)
Why is this getting downvoted. Is it because of a general anti-cloudflare sentiment?

Re: on Thursday September 03, 2026 @08:20AM (#49549039)
This is the most exciting direction for LLMs for me. I am already dreaming of the day when you boot to an LLM that proceeds to implement an OS on the fly. Wow - just the thought has me salivating.

"marked using a pencil"

Why would you not want to mark paper ballots with pens / ink which will be harder to change?

Re:Outbid – A Million Dollar Homepage for 2026? on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @01:52PM (#49437894)
I jumped on the hype and paid $8 for a link on outbid.lol

Was I stupid? Probably...

But at this stage I am experimenting with reddit ads which charge more than $1 for a click so if I get more than 8 clicks I won't be doing too badly.

It's hard to know the value of such small ad spends but everyone has to start somewhere.

Advice from anyone who has figured out an amazing advertising solution will be much appreciated.

There is a chap in London who does some great work with researching and spreading awareness of air pollution:

Re:The Amazon Tax on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @10:39AM (#49346290)
Would love a similar post breaking down the rightmove (UK equivalent of zillow) tax. Fortunately there is currently a court case against them that might help. I am also starting a #RightmoveHygiene campaign to encourage people to spend less time on there.
Re:A domain can now say it is for sale, in DNS on Saturday August 08, 2026 @03:56PM (#49225296)
A bit tangential but I imagine some of the smart folks here might have interesting opinions on this. There are a few sites popping up that let you do something interesting with content at a given url by changing the domain name slightly.

The best example is changing the g in github.com to u.

That results in uithub.com making the data there LLM friendly. Is that considered infringement?

I wonder if some of the ideas in cloudflare OS will find their way into EmDash.

Currently I am quite bullish on EmDash.

Re:The Session You Cannot take with you on Friday July 31, 2026 @09:23AM (#49122830)
Fair point. The core issues will remain but I am hoping buzz will provide a small layer of persistence that will make it easier for me to keep track of many different interactions more easily.

I have only just started with it in the last few hours so I could be massively disappointed but I live in hope.

Re:Show HN: 18 Words on Thursday July 09, 2026 @01:17PM (#48849295)
Interesting to see how much more popular creating games has become as AI has become more powerful. Right now I am working on a house price guessing game and I know I would not have be able to get anywhere with it a couple of years ago. It has still taken me a few weeks to get it where I wanted but I have had to intervene a lot with things the AI just wasn't good at.

How have I not heard of this before?
