Re:Show HN: Mindstamp – Make Any Video Interactive in Seconds on Friday September 14, 2018 @05:06AM (#17985761)
This is a cool project and a very clear landing page.

One thing I felt was a little jarring while working through the stamps in the demo video was the audio completely cutting out when a question is posed. Perhaps having some 'standby' music would help in that way, or even just fading the audio in and out when the pause happens.

Spotify do this on play / pause.

Great stuff, and good luck with the project!

Really interesting and well written post. Certainly has started some cogs turning in my mind.

Just a note, I think there is some text missing or leftover at the end of the 'Surface Assumptions' paragraph.

Re:Ableton Live Redesign on Friday June 16, 2017 @05:55AM (#14567696)
Not the person you asked, but I believe he is referring to the lack of arbitrary modulation mapping in Ableton, where modulation is typically one parameter on a synthesizer, effect or other device being changed over time by an external source such as a Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO).

Many Ableton devices have features such as this on specific parameters like filter frequency but, without Max for Live, you can't map custom modulations from arbitrary sources.

Here is an example on one such Max for Live device, pitched as a 'general purpose' LFO: https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/lfo-20-free-max-live-device-...

I would doubt your claim that 99% or HN readers are at a high technical level.

I spend a lot of time here, mostly in awe of the expertise of others and hoping to learn something from them.

Re:Ask HN: How can I improve my personal website? on Friday March 03, 2017 @06:08AM (#13782080)
I think this is cool but I agree with others that it may miss the target for some recruiters. There should be an 'easy' option that is more like a typical portfolio site.

A small UX suggestion is that the projects command should be able to take an integer as an argument and show that project e.g.

$ projects 1

^ takes you directly to the capstone project view.

Thank you for this, it got 0/6 the first time for me, and I'm literally DaVinci on the doodles...
