Re:The cargo cult of versioning on Sunday November 12, 2017 @10:43AM (#15681198)
It's a time problem. Container packaging eliminates the "works on my machine" problem, which is a space problem (environment pinning). It can be used to eliminate the time problem (version pinning).

SemVer is like language (e.g., English), more people speak the common language, easier to communicate. But doesn't prevent others who might speak EmojiVer to communicate. Certainly won't stop people using packages from both worlds.

There are usually two microphones in laptop, plug in one disables the other. I should say two down, more to go.
I have an old headphone that is plugging to the microphone socket of my laptop. So, one down, many more to go. Have not figure out a way to deal with microphone in mobile devices. Suggestions?
Re:It Is Not Flat Design. It's Just Proper Design on Saturday May 25, 2013 @01:36AM (#5766482)
Well said. GeoCities design was "proper" a few years back, maybe it will resurrect again!
This reminds me a quote:

> Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Paying attention to detail and keep things simple, not just for design but coding as well.

Re:Hiring employee #1? Try FirstHire on Thursday May 16, 2013 @12:24AM (#5716899)
It could be broader. First few hires matter as well, not just the first one.
Re:AWS Offers General Availability For Node.js on Tuesday May 07, 2013 @09:18AM (#5667946)
Strongly agree! I thought it was something else exciting, but it is just the SDK. I have been using it for a while.

Less is more, as in coding.
Re:Can people get by on four hours' sleep? on Wednesday April 10, 2013 @09:53AM (#5525121)
I think this is trade-off. Sleep less every day, you borrow your future time to use it now, you might end up live a shorter life.

How much can "Certified Hacker News Professional" get me?
We managed to submit by tethering through my cellphone right before the date change. Good thing to have a working backup option.
The part I like is version-controlled on GitHub. Now if I can just 'git log' my employment history ...
