I'm not noticing much of an improvement on my mid-2011 MacBook Air (< 6 month old battery, 145 cycle count). The fact that the battery life indicator shows applications that are using significant amounts of energy has made me more aware of which applications are sucking away my battery life, however.

I too have an X220 with the "HD" screen. It looks great. The only issue is the awful resolution, but it's the same with the regular panel.

I should probably mention that it runs Arch Linux without issue.

That's the English pricing. They recently updated their French page:

The same server is $49/month + tax now.

Re:Apple releases iOS 6.0.1 with improvements and bug fixes on Thursday November 01, 2012 @03:10PM (#4729172)
Odd. I just launched it on my device under iOS 6.0.1 and it ran just fine.

(Using an iPhone 5, maybe that's why?)

A lot of retailers I've been to require you to show government issued ID to prove your identity when your chip fails. Some downright refuse to accept your credit card.
Re:Ask HN: Which DRM-free ebook reader to buy? on Monday October 22, 2012 @08:52AM (#4682886)
I rather enjoy my Kobo. I'm not sure why it says "Coming Soon" because it's out now.

It's definitely e-paper, I don't believe it has remote wipe, and can read many ebook formats, including DRM-free ones.

Some titles on the Kobo store are DRM-free (and are indicated as such), and the store is massive. If your books are DRM'd, it supports Adobe's DRM scheme.

Re:Stripe's New Recurring Billing Features on Thursday September 13, 2012 @02:01PM (#4517632)
I told them my country was Canada. The welcome email they sent me included a link with an invitation code.

In the dashboard it asks me to give a Tax ID and SIN and lets me charge either USD or CAD.

I signed up to be notified when Stripe was available in Canada and received a welcome email maybe a week later.
