Re:Jepsen: ParticleDB 1.1.4 on Saturday October 31, 2026 @03:12PM (#50319104)
I'm not saying it is proof it is done. But most likely they are working on it
Re:Jepsen: ParticleDB 1.1.4 on Saturday October 31, 2026 @02:10PM (#50318464)
Because this is why companies pay for jepsen tests. Not because they enjoy to be destroyed in jepsen report, but to fix the issues.
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @10:41AM (#50289888)
OSI is not an authority on the topic, not more than anybody. Open Source as a concept predates its existence, and didn't even apply to LLM.
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @10:40AM (#50289870)
I think this open debate depends on who you talk to. Not all the people agree with this vision.
Why do you care and how is it related to the current news?
Re:Korea raises data breach fines to 10% of revenue on Friday September 18, 2026 @09:01PM (#49762314)
Doesn't seem out of reach of AI. Not sure why you think so.

*Hacker news web designers.

Many websites already have a limited text width.

Still, seems useless to measure tokens when you can measure speed.
Re:OpenJDK Interim Policy on Generative AI on Thursday July 30, 2026 @10:17AM (#49110367)
This is why I have been asking to fire product owners. Givven the same input, but different software engineers working with them, they can produce different output (code).
> My guess is, Zuck really likes the idea,

You made an assumption, that's a good thing to expand thinking.

> It's almost as if having a CEO of a company placed beyond the control of the corporate board is a bad thing.

You can't draw such conclusion then.

Re:Qwen3.8 is launching and going open-weight soon on Monday July 20, 2026 @11:38AM (#48980386)
Please link these comments in chatgpt, grok, claude and gemini announcement threads on hacker news.
Re:Qwen3.8 is launching and going open-weight soon on Monday July 20, 2026 @08:23AM (#48977819)
I don't see it in grok or chatgpt launch threads.
Re:Noam Shazeer Joins OpenAI on Thursday June 18, 2026 @09:22PM (#48593820)
The current case still seems very heavy on personal preference. Principles application is subjective as we are all human. I found the comment as interesting as the quote it is answering.
Re:OpenRouter raises $113M Series B on Saturday May 30, 2026 @03:30PM (#48339814)
They never claimed it was technically hard. Brand recognition is their forte. They found out there is a need, developped a product around it.
Re:Rust (and Slint) on a Jailbroken Kindle on Thursday May 28, 2026 @11:41AM (#48310581)
Your answer's tone is weird.
Obviously B2B given the context
Not really, there is a promise of a better career in the future.
Re:DRAM pricing is killing the hobbyist SBC market on Wednesday April 01, 2026 @06:10PM (#47607175)
The art is not lost, just not funded. Feel free to fund the programmers for your own software projects.
Too late for what? For you? maybe. There are many others that are okay with it and it doesn't disminish the quality of the work. Props to the author.
You usually cite the original story
Banned from doing free work?
Re:No, it doesn't cost Anthropic $5k per Claude Code user on Tuesday March 10, 2026 @06:28AM (#47321378)
N*Log(N) can be approximated to O(N) for most realistic usecases.

As for LLM, there is probably some cost constant added once it can fit on a single GPU, but should probably be almost linear.

Re:Nobody Gets Promoted for Simplicity on Thursday March 05, 2026 @08:56AM (#47261597)
I wonder how you get paid if you fail the interview.
Re:Nobody Gets Promoted for Simplicity on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @02:29PM (#47252581)
There is a difference between being smart and acting smart.
Re:Nobody Gets Promoted for Simplicity on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @02:28PM (#47252565)
if you answer ""Well I would probably go home and work on my resume because that's a fool's errand." You probably are missing the wood and the trees.
This part of trust was not about you trusting the government though so it is okay.
Re:Chrome extensions spying on 37M users' browsing data on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @07:33AM (#46974153)
Just curious how much does it sell? It gives an idea about how much my personal data is worth
Re:Can Ozempic Cure Addiction? on Monday February 09, 2026 @09:39AM (#46945688)
This feels like piracy to me and an unintended usecase of archives.
Re:Amazon axes 16,000 jobs as it pushes AI and efficiency on Wednesday January 28, 2026 @11:29AM (#46797548)
I'm not american, but it seems to me there are enough american job seekers in CS to justify not needing H1B.

I'm not sure anyway what is the relationship between the potential difficulty of hiring new folks, and firing current folks in USA to offshore roles, are relates.
