I wonder how you would feel about, for example, Slavic languages. There, you leak information about the gender even about speaking about yourself in first person (at least in the ones I have some idea about). Example in Polish:

"Spotkałem kolegę" - "I [male] met a [male] friend."

"Spotkałam kolegę" - "I [female] met a [male] friend."

"Spotkałem koleżankę" - "I [male] met a [female] friend."

"Spotkałam koleżankę" - "I [female] met a [female] friend."

Notice the different ending (em/am) depending on whether a male or female is speaking.

Re:EA is shutting down BioWare on Thursday October 22, 2026 @03:57AM (#50192501)
GTA games are, as far as I know, mostly built by Rockstar North studio (formerly DMA Design), which is located in Scotland. Obbe Vermeij, former Rockstar North employee, has written some interesting blog posts about the development of GTA from 3 through San Andreas, which can be found archived here: https://gist.github.com/WillPresley/d57d48b3d5f7f7b4bde4a2a3... (he has taken the blog down). It seems that, at least in that era, Rockstar New York was mostly handling the story and voice acting.

By the way, does anyone know why the site stopped being updated in 2019? Besides Death Valley Germans there were other interesting articles in there, about other Search & Rescue endeavors, Area 51, an interesting take on Bob Lazar etc. I hope the author is OK and in good health.
It could also work well for modding, for example, creating a natural dialogue system in Morrowind (replacing the vanilla "interactive signpost" NPCs).
Check out DepthHub: https://www.reddit.com/user/Lapper/m/depthhub/ It's a "multireddit", an amalgamation of multiple subreddits, a feature that Reddit as a company no longer seems to care about. From the description: "DepthHub gathers the best in-depth submissions and discussion on Reddit. You can use the DepthHub as an alternative front page with high quality discussion and inquiry. " I used to visit it pretty much every day, back when third-party apps were allowed.
Re:GTA 5 source code leaks online on Monday December 25, 2023 @08:05AM (#38762283)
I wonder if we'll ever get a San Andreas source code leak/release that would finally debunk or confirm the mystery of Bigfoot. After all these years, I still have hope that it's real...

I would love a videogame that uses something like this for a map of the game world.
Re:Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2022 on Thursday June 23, 2022 @07:39AM (#31847667)
Does anyone know why Salesforce is no longer included in the survey? It was included up till 2018 in "Platforms", but since then it's been strangely absent.
Re:Opinion: Another species of hominin may still be alive on Tuesday April 19, 2022 @07:12AM (#31081649)
I think this is supposed to mean that humans appeared relatively late in Earth's history ("two minutes to midnight"), instead of being there from the very beginning. Or to put it in a different way: much more species appeared before humans existed than after they already existed.
But such information can also serve as an advice for potential victims. For example, many people don't think about the fact that if they credit card info gets stolen, it not only may lead to losing money (which may be not much if a card has access to little funds), but may also allow someone to use it in a criminal context. Demonstrating a scenario where it can be used in a serious crime can increase awareness.
