The crypto job is most likely related to Community Points.

I hated the Space Pen because the ink always felt sticky and it wrote poorly.

Schmidt 4889 is a substitute pressurized refill that is compatible with the Space Pen, although I have not tried it yet.

Fanstratics is a spiritual successor to Heroes of Might and Magic III, it is being developed by the lead game designer of HoMM3. There are some interesting newsletters being published about the game.

Re:BusKill – A USB kill cord for laptops on Wednesday December 15, 2021 @09:06AM (#29566081)
Alternatively you can remove the laptop battery and use it with just the charging cable attached to power the device. The laptop will automatically shut off when the power cable is disconnected. Then PAM Duress [0] can be used for the xkcd538 [1] situation.

Re:Ask HN: What are the best-designed things you've ever used? on Saturday November 27, 2021 @05:51AM (#29359198)
I always avoid touching that metal door plate, I've gotten 'stainless steel cleaner and polish' on my hands too many times for me to consider using it again.

The Fedora community also created one recently.

It would be much easier to identity an infected individual for quarantine if a virus had a steep fatality rate, the transmission would be much slower too since dead people don't travel.
A more lethal virus would not spread as quickly and effectively as Covid-19, look at the Ebola virus as an example.

Aftermarket options can be purchased to mitigate discomfort from ear protection equipment.

The Sightlines Gel Ear Pads from NoiseFighters is a popular option for earcup replacement.

The IceVents Classic Ventilated Headband from Qore Performance is a popular option for headband replacement.

Re:Ask HN: What was a book that changed your life? on Friday December 25, 2020 @05:52PM (#25539705)
The author is Leigh Louey-Gung (LoGun) and I would not recommend reading it.

Are there any future plans to bring this wonderful application to Flatpak too?

uMatrix development has ended though, no more updates will arrive.
Re:Ask HN: How are you downloading YouTube videos? on Saturday October 31, 2020 @10:03PM (#24956728)
If youtube-dl fails then I will resort to using the latest version of uGet since it does not rely on youtube-dl as a backend.

uGet is not flawless, there have been some instances where the audio of a downloaded video does not work. The default resolution downloaded is 360p, this can change this in the settings.

Dangerzone[0] could potentially be used to mitigate some of the techniques mentioned in the discussion.
