Nothing wrong with putting a link to a zip bomb in your robots.txt and disallowing them.

Also, just put a limit on requests per IP? https://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_limit_req_module.htm...

Re:FOSDEM 2025 on Monday September 23, 2024 @11:13AM (#41627049)
There's still plenty of different beers available at the bar in FOSDEM itself.

There's no longer an official beer event. Lots of alternative beer events and social popped up on Friday evening.

On Saturday evening there's quite some community dinners and also a nice party at the hackerspace HSBXL.

It's probably not online yet but the event is called bytenight.

In Belgium, one supermarket did exactly this.

You can even use your e-ID card to buy products with a minimum age.

Re:BusKill – A USB kill cord for laptops on Thursday December 16, 2021 @08:10AM (#29577750)
It's easier then you think.

For anything with more than one socket, you just plug in a second cable into a free socket, once the phases are synced up unplug the extension cord or cut the socket free.

For singular sockets straight into the wall, unscrew, clip on connectors with a V shaped knife and same as above.

Although when I was working we usually would take images onsite before even considering moving the devices.

It's definitely not bullet proof but I've set up my laptop to lock when Ethernet or the monitor is unplugged or any new USB device is plugged in. This stops most but not all live imaging.

Sustainability.

Back then there was a bit more time before we screwed over humanity.

(The planet will be fine long after we've made ourselves extinct)

Stress reduces weight, so that could be a factor.

Enjoying life with a partner includes fine dining and relaxing more (less sport).

Go to settings, app, stop now
You'll want to turn of Webrtc and check again.

There are many ways out there to check if you're in the country you say you are but this is one of the "easy" ones.

Re:Ask HN: How are you separate your personal vs. work laptop? on Wednesday October 16, 2019 @05:17AM (#21268491)
Work laptop came with an M.2 SSD and had a sata connector as well. Due to size both wouldn't fit buy you can fix it using an mSata disk and an adapter. https://imgur.com/ax7epyg

It's easy now to keep work and private separate since I need to shutdown one to boot in the other.

The disk in encrypted so my data is safe if they would ever take the laptop back without asking. But pulling out a disk is going to be way faster then copying or erasing.
