Re:Hunger beats tenure: Advice for junior engineers on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @06:39AM (#50271443)
This is a very positive development for the field.
From “Don’t be evil” to Evil in Action, it took less than 20 years …
Re:OpenAI, the Partition Principle, and Mathematics on Friday October 09, 2026 @07:47AM (#50019164)
As a whole, the math community would want to simply ignore the distractions from AI companies … they are using math problems as medium to promote their commercial interests.
Re:OpenAI Withdraws 3 Math Papers on Thursday October 08, 2026 @08:34AM (#50005070)
It would turn out to be a pure energy and time wasting exercise … the math community would want to keep away from it.
Re:Social Reality in China on Monday October 05, 2026 @04:20PM (#49970120)
I noted that some of the points made were not even wrong ...
The US sanctions itself out of the game. I m afraid if the trend continues, it may sanction itself out of the rest of the world.
The concept is like the perpetual machine in the 1800s. It is simply an impossibility. Please avoid wasting time.
Re:AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read) on Monday August 17, 2026 @04:26PM (#49337128)
Very good shorthand
So pathetic … Anthropic …
Re:Design Is Compromise on Sunday July 26, 2026 @01:47PM (#49060471)
Another way to put it: design is the outcome of an optimization against a given set of objectives and constraints. This would also help to keep track of the reasoning underlying changes in the design to provide an audit trail.
Re:The arguments against open source AI are bad on Thursday July 23, 2026 @07:09PM (#49029298)
These companies are using anything at hand to trick people out of their money … be very careful…
Re:Recreating the Bell Labs Cafeteria on Tuesday July 21, 2026 @04:13PM (#48997590)
Short-termism has been undermining the US for a long while now.
Re:Latent Space as a New Medium on Friday July 17, 2026 @08:16PM (#48953790)
Lots of misconception about GenAI ...
Re:How sea stars build materials that can see on Monday July 13, 2026 @05:18PM (#48899024)
Very fascinating ..
Re:Optimization Solver as a Service on Saturday July 11, 2026 @08:27PM (#48877149)
This may be useful for small demos. For large scale MIP with millions of variables, one needs to have the solver at hand to support custom algos with techniques such as column generation, etc. to achieve time to solution and economics of compute resources. A remote API will not fit.
Re:Computation as a Universal and Fundamental Concept on Friday July 10, 2026 @09:17PM (#48867542)
Would like to think we human are better than what is implied by the course in that we would not mistaken our model of reality as reality itself.
To make America great again, we need to rid private money from politics and election. A public pool should be established with well defined rules and transparency to fund election and campaign. It is a basic investment in healthy democracy.
Re:Claude Code Is Steganographically Marking Requests on Tuesday June 30, 2026 @09:14PM (#48741311)
As people say, unchecked power corrupts. These big techs are all corrupt in their own way.
Very much indeed. The term itself is not properly defined, strictly speaking.
Here it goes again ...
The US consumers are now becoming more and more like captive preys ... in the names of whatever special interest groups would make up ... so sad and outrageous!
Re:IBM Debuts First Sub-1 Nanometer Chip Technology on Thursday June 25, 2026 @05:11PM (#48679269)
At some point, people would not know if they have the deal or not have the deal in this new era of quantum e-business ...
Monitoring employee at work is a shady business .. we all should say no to it.
It would spell the start of major corruption and the end of American sciences. God, please do something about it!
In the last 40 years, China has been building while the US has been wasting money and lives fighting wars. Can we learn to really put America first for once?
It’s a matter of fact that OpenAI betrayed its origin.
Very intriguing ...
Yet just another human fooled by LLM ...
Is this common sense and by definition of what an average is?
Re:A.I. is creating engineers who can't think without it on Sunday April 26, 2026 @05:08PM (#47914504)
Can’t think properly seems to be the real issue. That’s one of the reasons that SE domain is mostly in ruin. AI won’t help, only to delay a bigger mess.
