Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (October 2026) on Thursday October 01, 2026 @09:36PM (#49929004)
I've been working on a website monitoring service written in Rust. I had to port from using the reqwest library to libcurl in order to properly capture DNS/connect/TLS/first-byte timing. I basically ran the new engine side by side with the original for a few weeks, running 100k+ checks daily to get a 99.8% agreement. The mismatches were interesting because of the Cloudflare challenge that returned 403 based on the http/2 fingerprint, no matter the user-agent used.
a blocked phase would be nice here so you can see when a request actually fired. also your TCP timing is including TLS

I really hate when vendor status pages don't display accurate information, leading a false narrative to their customers.

Re:Who's Afraid of Chinese Models? on Monday July 20, 2026 @08:55PM (#48986850)
The fact that Anthropic has a model like Mythos means that counterpart countries like Russia and China are not far behind, if they haven't already developed something similar or better.
