show of hands on how many of us have been banned from /r/worldnews for talking in less favorable terms about that middle east country that starts with an I.
again, a lot of words yet didn't specify the impacts. From LLM:
- vent animals don’t live off the heat. They live off the chemistry in the vent fluid
- so changing of vent flow can be disruptiev
- altering fluid chemistry. organisms there live in very tight thermal and chemical gradients, so little changes can be devastating
- Anchors, drill rigs, equipment frames and power cables crush things
- secondary human/machinery pollution from Leaks of a working fluid, if it’s a closed loop using something like ammonia, antifouling coatings and corrosion products.
- subseafloor microbial biosphere
Would love for experts in this field to chime in though. fascinating stuff.
while mstaoru is over-generalizing[1], North America has always been much more of a melting pot compared to some East Asia countries, despite the right wing ideology shift in recent times.
also you are being hostile. Everyone knows about the Japanese internment camp - we are just not sure where it fits in this discourse. Might as well just say 'tribalism is part of us. no need to discuss further. ignore all progress.'
[1] in taiwan, singapore, malaysia and etc, while they might refer to western folks as laowai or angmoh, there's usually little negative connotation attached to it.
if i hear 'aura farming' or 'xxx-maxing' one more time I might punch someone.
all the above. They just simply do not care about non enterprise customers. Today they announced qwen, guess what - it's also the same day they pulled Gemma off their shared tier. No migration notice and all developers are scrambling as we speak trying to migrate. They gave a soft head-ups on discord a week ago and when folks complained about zero-day migration they started saying 'you aren't suppose to build production app on shared tier'.
OP and you are obviously on different end of the spectrum. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
yep. just like how US gov gatekeeped Mythos/Fable and Ant just repackaged them and call it Opus 5.
Now you have 2 problems. That freaking thing is a memory hog in itself and guess why - ELECTRON.
superpowers front-load 22k tokens before you even hit send and their context inflation balloons after 500k
I laughed and cried at this comment. It's so uncannily EU. Just spent 18 months landing an EU enterprise contract. Signed today and sent it back and got an automated message 'sorry will be on vacation til end of July...' This is the fourth vacation emails I got since corresponding with this contact window for the past 1 year.
DeepSeek will just wing it and tell you it's done only for you to find 1 major + 3 edge case bugs.
another ditto from me, albeit anecdotal again. Railway dev teams play fast and loose with sprinkles of vibe coding everywhere on top. There's 'oops yea bear with us we are still a startup' and then there's railway.
you are taking this too literally. try to see it as proxy for questions like 'will i get my wallet back from uber drive' or 'will my purse be snatched by street scooters'
+1. not just that front page, click on any of the menu. Good prefetch and ttfb optimization there
ha even better on /r/localllm husbands are scratching their head why their wives and kids just won't use their local chatgpt. It's fast and i bought 4 5090 for this why won't they use it!
Brothers, maybe they don't want you to see all their private chats with AI?
I always tell people this - that Palantir is just IBM. Instant hate feedbacks from both left and right.
Left: They kill babies and have your poop data.
Right: They are so much more than that. That have super intelligence AI with drone puppetry. Have you seen the leaked dashboards!
macbook pro m4 bought last year. worked on so many codes and projects. never hot after closing lid. installed electron claude. closed lid and went to sleep and woke up to macbook that has been hot all night. uninstall claude. problem went away.
i kept telling myself this BUT NEVER ELECTRON AGAIN.
and that's okay. so we judge them one decision at a time. So far, Anthropic is good in my book.
several of my friends named their chatgpt 'Amanda' or 'George' because they talked about real mental issues with it. I don't see them moving to another platform because that's essentially asking them to leave their 'best friend/therapist'.
yea so they dont want to include agents.md and that's perfectly fine with me.
interesting. they have been pretty receptive to my pull comments and discourse on issues. To each's anecdote I suppose.
Regardless of how Apple will solve this, please just solve it. Siri is borderline useless these days.
> Will it rain today?
Please unlock your iphone for that
> Any new messages from Chris?
You will need to unlock your iphone for that
> Please play youtube music
Playing youtube music... please open youtube music app to do that
All settings and permission granted. Utterly painful.
There's that and then there are companies spending 100k on a software suite just to use that 2 features. So now one of their junior dev solves it and becomes a hero. The truth it always somewhere in the middle.
also given the psychology field research replication crisis, I would wait to see if this research can be replicated down the road.
i dont see dotcom technologies replacing droves of workers and creating panics in /r/screenwriters, /r/3dmodelers etc. The displacement is real and we are not going back. Dotcom tech created fake problems so their 'advance technology solution' can be presented as solution. With AI wave, it's the opposite - business heads are actually thinking 'what other real problems can i solve with AI'. OpenAi and Claude don't even have to do any preaching. That's real value.
because if you say it out loud in front of people it makes it true-er!
reminds me of Jim Simons of Renaissance advise when it comes to data science - sort first, then regress.
personal favorite of mine - I want to switch data api but I dont have time to port 2 different services so here's their documentation. BAM. Done.
i just hashout out the details with claude. apparently it would cost me ~8k USD to retrieve all Taipei street images from gmap api with 3m density. Expensive, but not impossible.
been using it on a plane for the past one month. it's a great way to do some light reading and learning about obscure topics.
