Facebook can merge with Pinterest in a 50/50 merger, then it can justify the 100B valuation!

If you provide a service people wants, they will pay. Is it really that surprising?

Re:How to Not Be a Shitty Recruiter on Friday February 17, 2012 @01:34PM (#3604426)
Recruiters are great at getting you bunch of practice interviews (at companies you don't care about).

Then you can go to the real interviews prepared ;)

You don't get real choices at the polls. We need to get rid of the winner take all system and replace it with a percentage based system.
Should not be surprised, we don't have real democracy after all.
It's not what you know, but who you know. Unfortunately.

Have you people even tried VS2010 for js? That thing actually executes your js in real-time so it knows the exact type of variables even after re-assignment and can offer type info/auto-complete that is 100% accurate.
Re:Why Do Cells Age? Extremely Long-Lived Proteins on Sunday February 05, 2012 @04:07PM (#3555236)
The real problem is nobody is even trying. Then they all die.
Visual Studio is by far the best IDE for Javascript, it actually runs the code in a VM and then use the info to offer autocomplete
Re:Hiring - Must be godlike to apply on Saturday February 04, 2012 @04:53PM (#3552295)
Parse, sounds like a company for only backend guys, and front end people should avoid.
Re:Hiring - Must be godlike to apply on Saturday February 04, 2012 @04:38PM (#3552251)
Job ads like that are a HUGE sign that the company does not value Front End Engineers, and should be avoided (they are a backend company)

And a link to a great article about how to actually hire Front End Engineers http://allenc.com/2012/01/how-to-get-front-end-developers/

Re:Salary Negotiations, Don’t be Tough, be Honest on Saturday January 28, 2012 @05:20PM (#3523491)
Work with a recruiter, get lots of offers, let them bid the salary up, then take the best offer/job.

It's really that simple.

1 year in jail for everyone who was turned down because of this. 10 Year in jail for every employer notification.
Re:Salary Negotiation: Make More Money, Be More Valued on Monday January 23, 2012 @04:08PM (#3502133)
Key: never tell them your salary. Then, be the first to give the number at 2X your current salary. Then come down a little eg, 5-10% lower then 2X.

Get a bunch of offers, let them bid it even higher.

Re:Salary Negotiation: Make More Money, Be More Valued on Monday January 23, 2012 @04:02PM (#3502108)
The key is to give out the number first at 200k/year then settle for 180k/year
