Re:Why Not Rust? (2020) on Sunday December 19, 2021 @12:58AM (#29611771)
I'm someone who likes to write Rust and wants to use it all the time, but for my professional work I only choose it when I really need it, which is very seldom - actually it was only once for a CAD data converter where memory usage must be as low as possible. The reasons not to use it always for everything are:

1. The mental overhead is larger than most want to admit. It's not about the syntax, but about memory management of course. The time and effort spend there should be spend to solve the problem at hand.

2. Depending on a lot of third party libraries which are maintained by just 1 person.

Re:Follow-up on the moderation issue – Inside Rust Blog on Saturday December 18, 2021 @12:34AM (#29601976)
This is a long and polite way to say: We'll keep private about that issue.

Which is what all companies do. It's part of the politics that is going on there. It's just that a higher expection has been set by the Rust team that they follow higher goals.

One thing is clear, however. Whatever happened, it was not a banality.

Re:Tokio Console on Saturday December 18, 2021 @12:14AM (#29601878)
The Tokio ecosystem is tremendously important for people considering Rust for professional networking stuff. It not only has great libs / features, but will be well maintained for years to come - this is my firm believe at least and of course what you need for professional projects (as opposed to personal).

Already mentioned: https://pkg.go.dev/net/http/pprof

I've just seen that Goland (the IDE) has some nice integration:
