Very sad to see a place famed for academic brilliance being taken in by a charlatan. Very embarrassing

Maidsafe is one of the original crypto grifts that is still going and still hasn't made anything.

If the original funders kept their bitcoin they would be comfortably wealthy. Instead this company has wasted bitcoin that would now be worth billions over the past TWENTY years!

The melting pot was just a hypothesis and we are living through the experiment.

The theory might not be correct

Trustpilot are a scam operation themselves and I agree that they are near-perfect evil.

They shake down companies involved with them and give add very little of value. If anything, they are harmful to ecommerce as it makes people more skeptical of reviews

At least if they implement UBI then the need to build the wall on the border will increase.

You cant give away money for free and NOT have strong borders.

Re:Nuclear power is the only green solution (2004) on Wednesday January 29, 2020 @09:15AM (#22180652)
I agree that improving our energy generation is important.

But we must also get over the idea that we need mass immigration into the West.

The most environmentally friendly thing to do is accept a slow decline in absolute population numbers.

This will mean roads are not as busy, hospitals not full to bursting and the chance to improve the kids to teacher ratio.

Re:Nuclear power is the only green solution (2004) on Wednesday January 29, 2020 @09:11AM (#22180610)
So you want those in America + Europe (less than one billion) to significantly reduce their consumption, while allowing >7 billion to massively increase their consumption?

Think about the amount of concrete alone that would need to be used to get Africa up to 1st world standards. China used more in a few years than America did in a century. This will have to happen many times over just for the current population level, never mind a growing one!

It is like living in a house and everyone agreeing to cut their energy use by 20%.... while bringing in a new resident every few months.

Have you not seen the protests today? Hello?

The last thing they need is money as that will lead to increased consumption or even increased population growth!

This is a climate EMERGENCY so we should limit their ability to gain money, not ease it

Re:A new $100M fund for women founders of color on Sunday July 08, 2018 @06:09AM (#17483030)
Yes, it is racist and sexist.
Technology will solve the problem - immigration just kicks the can down the road.

If you import a large amount of immigrants they will have less hereditary wealth than the same amount of native Germans.

This increases state dependence when these immigrants become old themselves and enhances the viscous cyle

Re:How the West Got China Wrong on Friday March 02, 2018 @11:35AM (#16502991)
It is very racist to treat a group ("whites") by their skin color in this day and age.
People will follow the money. Corporation tax is likely to go down further.

Its currently 19%, lowest in the G7, and will fall to 17%

Re:In a Robot Economy, All Humans Will Be Marketers on Sunday July 30, 2017 @05:38AM (#14885210)
In England there are a large amount of people that live a better lifestyle than the mega rich lived say 100 years ago.

They can raise a family, get given a house, free health care, free education including university, TV, internet, computer games and even holidays.

They dont have to worry about dying from polio, TB, malaria etc. Very little hunger etc

On paper they live a lifestyle better than kings of the past did.

Yet depression and unhappiness is common. Drug use rampant. Suicides high.

Re:Feudalism and the “Algorithmic Economy” on Tuesday July 11, 2017 @06:15PM (#14748560)
Lets try this in a different context - is this truthful change still acceptable?

Seems to me you're all irked by facts? Sure, plenty of Jewish people aren't prospering. Irrelevant. A disproportionate amount of them are succeeding in the "algorithmic economy." I don't see why this is so taboo to point out.

If race or gender doesn't matter, why do 25% of Harvard places go to Jews? [1] I personally doubt 25% of people in the "algorithmic economy" are Jewish. But I'd love to be corrected about this.

Re:Can America's Farms Survive the Threat of Deportations? on Wednesday June 07, 2017 @08:05AM (#14505550)
Agree with this.

Illegal immigration, especially in America, is modern day slavery that has been co-opted by the left for their own political gain.

Would you support 50% gender equality of speakers at a conference?

Would you support limiting professional teams from hiring black people to allow for a certain number of Asians?

Would you support universities reducing their intake of Jewish students to stop over-representation?

Would you support hospitals hiring a maximum 5% Asian doctors?

I thought this was going to be about leaving older consoles, like the SNES, on overnight when you couldnt save
We also need to treat people that ignore evidence of racial differences the same then.

It is obvious to see - marathon runners, sprinters, etc

Re:What fossil fuels are doing to our oceans on Thursday March 02, 2017 @05:46AM (#13773125)
Population control is the only long term option.

It has naturally happened in Japan and most of the West. China is now under control as well.

We now need to limit the artificial growth of Africa by stopping food programs and allowing balance to be reached.

Well one way to look at it is that the other 27 countries will have to increase their contributions just to break even, or reduce spending.
