wait if they make a good point that has changed your mind, you discount it if you don’t like the source?

so you prefer authority of the messenger over merit of the message?

i wonder if they will replace it with generative content in a few years
yeah its fantastic for go and python

knowing how to trigger it properly is key though, just like all LLMs the context it has determines the quality of its output

the investments in GPUs and datacenters is in the hundreds of billions, if the market even worked like this, that 200m would be a drop in the bucket

The argument that companies must focus on profit and expansion to remain competitive is rooted in the principles of free markets and competition. In a capitalist system, businesses operate in an environment where they are constantly vying for customers and market share. If a company fails to prioritize profit and growth, it risks being out-competed by more aggressive and efficient competitors.
I think we’d all be pleased to build something out of passion and have it survive a decade without corruption, probably harder than it sounds
You were supposed to say it was greensupun’s 10th or something.

Plus a trivial translation is just that, trivial.

It’s not going to rewrite the huge web of dependencies that any given app consists of, nor will it recreate the various differences between runtime environments for interpreted languages.

It’s essentially a cute party trick.

Stuff like copilot is where I see the utility in the space.

Give it a few years
Same.

We broke it at least once but now it’s fixed.

What do you eat though?

It sounds like the diverse mix of cultures one finds in cities may not be something that adds value for you, but it certainly does for me.

Also, one of the reasons people enjoy cities is because of the proximity to stuff. Living in a city I can walk to everything from the grocery store and a plethora of restaurants, to the local theatre.

Living in a city those things are often at most a 15 minute walk.

Living somewhere deeply suburban or rural, you often have to drive more than 15 minutes to reach a single one of those things.

Sure you have tinder, but just doing the math based on population density one can see that cities have an advantage if you like a diverse dating pool.

Yes living in a city costs more, but it’s because there is more demand. That demand is sustained by real world individuals deciding cities have value for them.
