No ones cares mate. He's just telling it how it is (how Japanese people see foreigners).
Re:Thunderbird for iOS on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @09:19PM (#50081223)
Preside can. I thought spark could too
Re:USB Cheat Sheet on Sunday April 26, 2026 @06:48AM (#47909217)
That’s not backwards compatibility
The signal app does and does the OS once the notification is displayed. The latter is where this issue originates
Have you tried Narjo as an alternative client?
Re:GrapheneOS – Break Free from Google and Apple on Tuesday February 17, 2026 @02:50PM (#47052252)
You can have a second or third VPN active if you use a work profile and private space
You still have the same things on android. If an android app requests eg exact location it can refuse to run and there’s nothing you can do. That sort of behaviour is prohibited on iOS and an app won’t be approved if it does that sort of thing. They have to allow declining location permission or at least approximate location
Re:Privacy and control. My tech setup on Thursday January 01, 2026 @01:56AM (#46451946)
It's not their own phone. It's an OEM phone that will be supported by GrapheneOS by flashing it. Once you do it, there's no reason to believe it wont have the same play integrity issues that it currently has on pixel devices.
Re:Molly: An Improved Signal App on Friday November 28, 2025 @08:35PM (#46084519)
No they don't. The current releases for android and iOS both use file based encryption on most supported phones.
A chargeback can be started in minutes.
It has a stable interface on top of Linux, which desktop linux does not have.
Re:Firefox is the best mobile browser on Saturday October 11, 2025 @08:12PM (#45553951)
Given that their OS requires a pixel phone and google is not releasing a) updated drivers b) updated source code for the latest release

their days are indeed numbered.

As for not being a certified android device and being unaffected. That is not true. There will be chilling effects that result in much less FOSS app development for Android, and whether or not an OS is certified is irrelevant in that regard.

That OEM phone is literally years away.
Re:PureVPN IPv6 Leak on Thursday September 18, 2025 @03:06AM (#45286479)
Well it's more private. Also there's only one proper IPv6 implementation (using GUAs) and most people.cant get one
Thanks
Re:Signal Secure Backups on Tuesday September 09, 2025 @04:31AM (#45179176)
Do you know roughly how long before the iOS version comes out? I want to switch to iOS from android.
Re:Signal Secure Backups on Tuesday September 09, 2025 @04:29AM (#45179158)
I don't think that's true anymore. They added message history syncing
Source? What message does iOS show?
Re:I ditched Spotify and set up my own music stack on Friday September 05, 2025 @08:59PM (#45145572)
Woosh.

That's the whole point.

Exact same thing happened in my country. All the banking apps moved to Google Pay/wallet and there's now only one bank left that supports the AOSP android pay feature. Also using a garmin watch now.
That's how it's always costed
True but one of the proposed mechanisms of action is on the same pathway as NSAIDs

> 3) once that I forgot my password to the MacBook, all one needed to do to access my data was to enter recovery mode and reset the password. Sure it logged me off from browser sessions, but all my files where there available to anybody

Do you not know how computers work? That how it works on every computer without encryption.

You wouldn't have been able to access to the data passwordless if you had enabled Filevault encryption

Yes. Facebook was using this trick on Android. Meta's android apps would host a server on localhost, and their sites would communicate with this local server to pass tracking information that would otherwise be blocked by all browser protection methods on Android. I guess it is still fingerprinting, but at the most extreme end.

The strong integrity can be faked if you have the keys from a trusted phone that has a security flaw that allows key extraction. I think google bans these from time to time.
Re:How I Use Kagi on Thursday July 17, 2025 @04:59PM (#44598152)
Same. It would be great if they had something like the mullvads cards you can buy off Amazon in most countries to credit your account
Re:Reading NFC Passport Chips in Linux on Thursday June 26, 2025 @04:33AM (#44385397)
You can do this easily with a proxmark 3 rdv4 or clone
Re:Google Pixels are no longer the AOSP reference device on Thursday June 12, 2025 @06:19PM (#44263803)
Another one for the google graveyard. There's no benefit at this point to owning a pixel if you can't control it. I'm going to trial iPhone again and try to live with the few downsides, and the many upsides.
Re:Google restricts Android sideloading on Wednesday June 11, 2025 @05:46PM (#44252164)
What regulatory action? I don't see any progress made legally.
Re:Android 16 Is Here on Wednesday June 11, 2025 @08:10AM (#44246768)
Agree on all counts.

I'm going to trial/move to iOS because of this. If I'm going to live in a walled garden, might as well live in the better one.

Hopefully I can live with the shittier notifications/keyboard/lack of back button; I think the rest of iOS is overall better than a degoogled android experience.

I also don't really understand the point of all these strong integrity checks being enforced e.g. with banking apps or the alike. You can already just go to the corresponding website (and do the same actions) on a compromised device, how does restricting the app version provide any benefit?
