Almost: rite _of_ passage (not "to")
And just regular grammar. "Phenomena" is plural.
I think that was the expectation a few generations ago, once TVs were in most people's homes, but it didn't happen. I recall seeing a headline for a study a couple of years ago that said that regional accents were actually getting stronger.
Now if only the Google maps (mobile version) devs would read this. On Android anyway, no matter how much you zoom the text labels on things like street and highway numbers will not enlarge.
5 years ago that wasn't the case.
No Android 7 on my Nexus 5 might just be what pushes me to iOS. I've gone from being an Android evangelist to being an Android apologist ("Yeah, battery life sucks. Google has failed to fix it after X years") to now being, frankly, pissed off that my expensive phone is going to be left behind.
I suspected that this was the case with Proximity, but the delay still served its purpose for me. I haven't played it in a while, so maybe I'll give it a whirl again.
Thanks for putting together such a fun little game!
While we're on the subject, when you say "isn't the term suppose to be", you actually need to say "isn't the term supposed to be". I've noticed that people have started pronouncing this wrong (they now say "suppoes" rather than "suppozed") and that's spread into the written form.
Similarly, people are also replacing the correct "used to" with "use to".
Your "try me" text box should say "eg. tomorrow at 6am".
"ie." means "that is" (as in "restating...")
"eg." means "example".
It's necessary. It makes the "s" in "hotels" optional, so that the regex can match either "hotel" or "hotels" and then the rest.
And I should add that this thing is awesome! It wouldn't install for me unless I was root, but that might be a ruby configuration thing, since this is also the first ruby app that I've ever touched.
It would be nice to have an option to have scout_realtime only listen on 127.0.0.1, so (as someone else already mentioned) we could just proxy to it with another web server and then wrap controls around that.
With my 10 minutes of poking around in the scout_realtime source and a bit of googling, I think the option would go here, in main.rb:
server = WEBrick::HTTPServer.new(:Port => 5555, :AccessLog => [])
Regarding "What operating systems are supported?" and the answer of "scout_realtime relies heavily on the proc file system to fetch metrics. procfs is supported on most Linux-based distributions with the exception of OSX and Debian."
procfs is available on my Debian 7 servers, so scout_realtime just installed and runs fine on the few that I've tried it on.
I didn't even know that they were dirty.
*Time to come clean, Motorola
Uh, no. Sam is in London, England. Well, somewhere in the UK anyway.
This title is really difficult to parse as it is:
"Induction powered LED lit engagement ring"
mostly because it should be:
"Induction-powered, LED-lit engagement ring"
In his title, he needs to use "It's" as a contraction of "It Has". "its" is the possessive for "belonging to it" -- always.
"Create an Account Now
It's free, sign up in 60 seconds"
Here's a free grammar correction for that comma splice:
"Create an Account Now
It's free. Sign up in 60 seconds"
Grammar edits:
- "Skypipe : a cloud based named pipe"
should be
"Skypipe : a cloud-based named pipe"
- "... no IP to know, no tunnel to setup, nothing."
should be
"... no IP to know, no tunnel to set up, nothing."
- "then asks you and remember your credential for access"
should be
"then asks you and remember your credentials for access"
I'd give the article more credit if the author knew that "phenomena" is a plural. How can Facebook be a "momentary internet phenomena"?
Grammar is the future. Learn about sentences.
In case the article's author stops by:
- loose rhymes with "goose". The word is "lose".
Argghh. Please correct it again, to
Modules are where it's at
(it's = it is, and you're saying "Modules are where it is at")
Since news entries are constantly being juggled/reordered, I think it was a choice that they made. Whenever I get that error I just start on page 1 again.
"Module's are where it's at"?
Grammar much?
And don't get me started on "login with X, Y, Z". As a verb, it's "log in". YC has it wrong also.
