prehensile

I have a counter-example for you. Most of the people who are most keen to get back to the office in my company, and a few others that I know about, (majority engineers, certainly all knowledge workers) are the people who are struggling to work from home. Maybe they’re young and/or in tiny or otherwise non-ideal apartments or houseshares, maybe they live with a partner or kids and finding the space for everyone to do their thing is difficult.

Being able to WFH comfortably is not a luxury everyone has.

Re:The weakest link by far is Apple on Tuesday August 07, 2012 @07:59PM (#4353071)
I do store some sensitive stuff on Dropbox, but inside an encrypted disk image (I'm on a Mac).
This thread is relevant to my interests: I'm totally going to switch when I can actually get at my cash. If the problem has been because of cuts to & outsourcing of IT staff, we can only assume there'll be more of them.

So, here's a question: does anyone know what the frontline IT setups of other UK banks are like? There'd be no point in jumping to an outfit which has similarly weak infrastructure.

Oh man, I read that article years ago, lost the link and have been unable to find it since. Thanks! Any technical document which starts with "The measurement of time has a very long history, dating back to the first records of human civilization" and has a section titled "Political Time" gets a special place in my heart.

Not quite. From Shairport's README.md: "ShairPort does not support AirPlay v2 (video and photo streaming)."

snos has the correct link above, from the beginning of the video, it looks like he's running airplay-nmt: http://code.google.com/p/airplay-nmt/

Re:Boxer is a Slick App That Brings DOS Gaming to Your Mac on Thursday January 05, 2012 @07:14AM (#3428421)
One man's meaningless layer of abstraction is another's useful tool.

Wasn't Windows just an unnecessary layer on top of DOS?

Isn't X just an unnecessary layer of abstraction over the commandline?

etc

The license terms were indeed relaxed last year. Quite a few apps use scripting languages generally, and Lua specifically, including a little game you may have heard of named Angry Birds.
