Exactly why you need kids so you won't be lonely.

Mind sharing what that worthwhile problem is?
Re:Ask HN: Could you share your personal website here? on Thursday January 15, 2026 @12:27PM (#46636037)
I need to write more! :)

Do you use LLM models? Or something else?
Hiring someone to find hobbies defeats the purpose of hobbies. Why would you want to pursue something that someone else finds enticing rather than you discovering it yourself?

I enjoyed it, thanks for making it!

What did you use to build the frontend? It looks cool!
The truth is obvious, you just don't like the solution.

Agree with this
Re:Show HN: I Made an Open-Source Laptop from Scratch on Thursday January 23, 2025 @02:21PM (#42807084)
Dude this is great, you not only build a cool thing, but also you know how to preach about it! Very proud, hope you do great things. Don't let the spark die.
My advice: Keep honing your problem solving skills, by doing math challenges, chess puzzles, learn new languages(not programming ones, though that might help too), read books; anything that’d help you get newer perspectives, challenges your mind is good enough to withstand the race against AI.
It is a social medium by definition, tbf.
That does look suspicious.
I don’t think that is cut and dry as such, being able to solve IMO(International Mathematics Olympiad) level problems require a significant level of creativity and imagination, and folks who are good at it naturally have an aptitude(and perhaps an upper-hand as well) for problem solving in general, research or otherwise.
Re:Lessons from a never-ending personal project on Tuesday December 19, 2023 @08:01AM (#38694980)
This reminds me of a rather wonderful video about getting stuff “done” vs pursuing perfection :- https://youtu.be/bJQj1uKtnus?si=bdyI83voqRb2B3rY
What’s your product if you don't mind sharing? Curious.
Re:Why Take a Compiler Course? on Sunday March 26, 2023 @01:01AM (#35311140)
It’s not stagnation but the fundamental truths of a system, just like how 2 + 2 = 4 will remain true forever.
Re:Master Emacs in One Year on Sunday March 19, 2023 @03:02AM (#35216720)
I’ve been using vim for 3-4 years now, and I’m very comfortable in the vim ecosystem. Trying out emacs has been in my mind for a while, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the time investment.
I second this strongly, you can’t get better at math just by reading books. You need to hone your problem solving skills, you need to fight with the problems, have the mindset of a warrior, a conqueror, only then you’ll get the juice out of it and have a clear understanding of the subject. I’ll suggest starting with Concrete Mathematics by Donald Knuth, it’s a beautiful book that catches the essence of mathematics.

Art of problem solving(https://www.amazon.in/Art-Problem-Solving-Basics/dp/09773045...) is also a great start, especially if you don’t have much experience.

Re:Show HN: I may have created a new type of puzzle on Sunday September 18, 2022 @09:04AM (#32887202)
Reminds of the game “We were here together”, where you and your partner have to be at certain position doing some coordinated actions to solve the puzzle and advance to the next stage.

Exactly. I had to stop reading once it got out of hand.
Re:How to set junior employees up for success in remote on Monday June 27, 2022 @09:54AM (#31894619)
I joined my company straight out of college and it was during covid peak, it was totally remote and guess what, last week my manager called me and told me that I've been promoted with a salary hike(within less than a year).

If you've discipline and commitment you can make anything work. :)

Re:What would a recession mean for developers? on Saturday May 28, 2022 @04:18AM (#31538572)
Simple BFS from the starting position should do the trick.
