You're equating teleportation...something that violates our current understanding of physics..with rejuvenation, which does have some promising peripheral research, such as studies on telomeres.
>I use Firefox + uBlock Origin

Wasn’t Mozilla accused of selling data they collected from Firefox users?

Correct me if I’m wrong.

I mean, the statistics support the extraordinary amount of time spent on social media all throughout the day across all generations.

Very important for people to remember universally.

I agree, I think the iPhone mini sales were deeply affected by the iPhone SE. I came back a few months ago looking for an iPhone mini and didn't see any either.

I liked his review. The way he wrote reminds of a funny review for Inception.
Re:macOS Sequoia is available today on Tuesday September 17, 2024 @04:08PM (#41572133)
If you really really want to clean it all out, you’ll want to do a DFU wipe and install. Basically you plug a USB-C cable from one MacBook to another and then you upgrade the recoveryOS from the second MacBook which lets you bypass all that resetting to Ventura and then upgrading.

This actually sounds interesting and I would be down to help pull off such a Herculean task.

Finally!!
>Uber got its start by flouting taxi rules.

No they got their start because the yellow cabs were late, never arrived, started their timer before I even got into the car, took me a long routes to my destination. It was waaaay worse with yellow cabs. And when I first heard of Uber, I immediately switched.

I may be in the minority, but I’m a happy Uber/Lyft customer.

So it’s a music composition programming language?
Re:Open Source Farming Robot on Sunday August 04, 2024 @12:04PM (#41154379)
I can’t emphasize this enough. I mean, I’m using the GardenGrid watering system and an Orbit automated timer to water my 8 raised bed. So the intensive watering problem is solved.

Automatically planting the seeds? I can take it or leave it.

But the really intensive work is pulling those extraordinarily hardy weeds and pest control.

The cost of this thing at nearly $3000 including taxes is just too high for effectively an automated watering system that is easily solved at HomeDepot and the GardenGrid.

> “Chanel, a white thirty-three-year-old with three children, ages fifteen, nine, and three, broke up with her youngest child’s father just after we met her for the first time. When we ask about him later, she says dismissively, ‘He’s not around no more. I got rid of him…He was only here to sleep—didn’t want to pay no bills, didn’t want to do nothing. When he was here all he did was fight and argue and drink. I had to get rid of [him].’ She purses her lips in disgust as she tells us such men are unworthy of the children they father.”

She had 3 children with that guy. Instead of picking a nice dorky Christian boy, she went after the tingles. I hear so many stories from young mothers about how they had the opportunity to settle down with a wholesome boy who was willing to care for them, but she preferred the bad boy without a job because the sex was just so fucking awesome. And then she gets pregnant and start tricking on the streets. I have no sympathy for such women because they can’t help their monkey branching tendencies. The social media has convinced these girls that it’s ok to play fast and loose with sex, which results in fast and loose choices and long-term devastating social consequences. As much as men need to be taught, women need to be taught to lower their physical standards. Because the hot gangster guy who gets “play” is hardly going to settle. Sure the acne-ridden nerd is ugly, but he’ll be there for you through thick and thin.

> Amy, a white thirty-year-old mother of three, ages six, five, and three, had a boyfriend who worked steadily but insisted on spending on selfish pursuits. This is what eventually broke the young couple up. ‘He wouldn’t spend money for the kids’ food. I had to send my kids across the street to my mom’s to feed them and stuff. That’s what I got fed up with. I shouldn’t have to live like that…I said it’s time for him to support these kids instead of [me] being on [assistance], and he didn’t like it.’”

Translation: “I was impregnated by 3 other guys, and they all left me, and now I finally found a boyfriend but it turns out he doesn’t want to spend his money to feed my kids.”

Sweetie, we’re not married, so there’s no reason for you to expect I feed your children. My earnings are my earnings just like your earnings are your earnings in this feminist culture of independence.

Re:Ruby: A great language for shell scripts on Sunday June 23, 2024 @05:33PM (#40770753)
Even from a systems perspective there are more tools available in Python. Pyroute2 vs netlinkrb which was last updated 8 years ago and only does a few things. It’s sad because ruby had the potential, but ruby developers prefer to focus on the Rails ecosystem.
Re:Show HN: Radius – A Meetup.com Alternative on Friday June 21, 2024 @01:55PM (#40752029)
>I would get like, one real person showing up. All the rest were no-shows.

I think that is arguably the absolute single greatest problem that all meetups experience. It's frustrating for the Hosts and the Attendees. If a Meetup-like site could solve that drop-off/no-show rate, that would be the ultimate win.

Yeah but you can’t deny the rofls without the /s. At least I certainly can’t deny the humor from reading DevJab’s comment.
> You wouldn't see banner ads in Google Authenticator, or a Pro subscription in Apple Notes that lets you have unlimited notes.

Not yet. If Microsoft doesn’t experience any backlash for ad-laden freeware, I’m sure the Execs at Apple will think Notes+Ads is a fine strategy. I think Apple has been itching to do something with their Ad Server for a while.

What's the alternative? There's no competition.
Ruby just simply isn’t the glue language winner because of the heavy emphasis on rails.

From a systems perspective, I had to switch to python because it has pyroute2, which supports rtnl, devlink, ethtool and more.

I would have thought ruby had a full-fledged netlink library right now considering the stability of chef and puppet.

But all I could find was this from 8 years ago: https://github.com/BytemarkHosting/netlinkrb

I started off with ruby for systems glue but now I have a mix of python and ruby. I wish it was all ruby but the lack of updated “glue gems” and the prevalence of updated “glue eggs” means python really is the “glue language winner”.

Adding animation would make it more engaging.
This is very interesting, as a student, could you make this for vscode?

Came here to ask the same question.
If someone were to create an animation of that physics page you described, do you think it might have shortened the time spent to digest that concept?
>The FCC determined that Comcast’s Xfinity Internet broadband Internet access services deliver, on average, over 100 percent of their advertised downstream and upstream speeds during the busiest periods of the day, known as "peak" times, during sustained testing. Peak times are Monday through Friday from 7:00pm to 11:00pm local time.

>Latency is typically measured in milliseconds, and generally has no significant impact on typical everyday Internet usage.

I took that from their networkmanagement page. Their statements seem to conflict with the consensus of the HN crowd, but I could be wrong.

It may have started that way, but I enjoy it sober :). Hopefully our world doesn’t always need intoxicants to enjoy this style? But if you want to enjoy the intoxicants for the sake of the intoxicants, by all means!
