Re:Ask HN: I built it, nobody came, now what? on Friday April 09, 2021 @05:25AM (#26748396)
I mean, if one doesn't want to use an app that solves their problem just because they think the guy might be advertising it like that... I don't know what to say.

Money makes people go crazy, chapter 2137.
Yeah, Akonadi isn't great right now, but KMail is a very nice client.
Excuse the morning haze clouding my vision, guess I focused on writing without focusing on reading enough. Invalid is not the right word.

This so much. They'll ban you forever for a brain fart without blinking once. Unfortunate how many of these subs are frequented by actual professionals you can learn much from.

I wanted to write something of substance, but... Lol. Just, lol.
Try AnySoftKeyboard. Works great and is FOSS.
Fucking fuck FUCK! Oh and by the way which distro do you use?
Re:Total number of Brave Browser Publishers on Wednesday September 23, 2020 @08:29AM (#24566191)
Some three years back they used someone's identity to promote their browser. The guy in question is the one beitish person who used to make videos for Computerphile, forgot his name, sorry. The BAT is worthless and I don't believe it's a healthy incentive for anything but that's just my opinion (it is better than the alternative though, that's for sure). Other than that it's a fine browser but it seems conflicted when you look at its apparent goals.
Had no idea any other uBlock exists.

Just install it and use it.
Re:Degoogle: Cutting Google out of your life on Tuesday August 25, 2020 @09:23AM (#24271052)
Don't know what you meant when you divided "people" into those two categories, but it's either truism or irrelevant. Google is just a name, the point is it has a lot of power and even if a lot of people are "good" that doesn't mean they won't change, fuck up or be replaced at some point with a team that is less ethical. It's like it is with nukes. No one should have a weapon capable of such destruction.

Well, I barely started the day and I'm disturbed. Jesus christ, what world did I come to live in?
Re:Apple just kicked Fortnite off the App Store on Friday August 14, 2020 @12:32AM (#24153427)
There's no win for us here. Just corporate bullshit.

Epic is no better. Trading one owner for another makes no difference in the best case. It's either free and open source and user-focused or nothing.
One company controlling all these electronics in my house. How do people not find that disturbing?
Re:American darknet vendor and Costa Rican pharmacist charged on Thursday August 06, 2020 @07:25AM (#24069982)
The drug that kills tens of thousands of people who don't know any better and choke on their vomit because nobody told them to lay on their side. People who overdose because they got dope laced with fent. People who overdosed because they didn't know how much h they got. People who got addicted, because the safest option was to shoot. Surely controlled selling of the substance wouldn't fix any of these problems.
Not him but I don't feel the need to have a subscription. I could subscribe to one service, but it has an alternative superior to it which is mostly free.
Re:Opera GX Gaming Browser on Friday July 31, 2020 @08:09AM (#24007858)
It's a great browser, as customizable as you'd expect a spiritual successor to Opera to be. Unfortunately you largely have to take their word when it comes to privacy, but they seem trustworthy enough.
