lol this is probably most famous financial tool on the market. No wonder we have so many new software tools being created daily since some people don’t do basic market research.
Just as russian bots, israeli bots spreading fake news are worst thing that happened to our society. Crazy that people are falling for this but here we are
I think it’s not a facebook ban per se but more like set of regulations (like no nsfw content and so on) that you need to meet to operate a business in the country. Facebook couldn’t care to meet those rules so they aren’t allowed to operate. Apple, Tesla and thousands other american businesses can still operate.
So being anti genocide and pro humanity is now China ideals only? Boomers eh
And like 20k slaughtered innocent civillians in the Gaza Genocide. Probably more at this moment. Humans are brutal.
I have noticed you decided to use several German words in your reply, trying not to be petty but at least you should attempt to write them correctly. It’s either Wunderkind (German word for child prodigy) or english translation: wonder kid.
Re:Europe data salary benchmark 2023 on Saturday May 27, 2023 @10:46PM (#36100672)
Good point, we are seeing a lot of layoffs in bay area amand other HCoL locations in the US but at the same time hiring is still going strong in Eastern Europe and India. Typical outsourcing destinations where you can get a developer for fraction of the price. We can debate about quality but for sure countries like Poland have lots of developers that are on a par with best ones in Bay area
Well congress approved 500 million for negative coverage of China. So yes, US websites are even paid for shaming and criticizing China (often based on false information) and our asian enemies (like Japan in the 80s with all the Japan bashing)

I feel that India has been getting more and more authoritarian recently. What is happening over there?
Re:Japan leads world in childless middle-aged women on Sunday January 15, 2023 @12:47AM (#34387053)
I don’t think it’s the issue. Why the same still happens in countries where women are treated much better (having more privileges than men) like Poland where women don’t need to serve in military and retire 5 years early while having 10 year longer average lifespan?

Birthrate in Poland is still declining

Not common among white collar friends. Many people I talked with are more likely to run than defend the country which day by day is ruined by conservative and corrupted politicians

And teleportation capacities, never underestimate teleportation.

@As_you_wish is a white supremacist. Dont expect much from people like him.
History PhD candidate at Hacker News? I’m really curious, do you like programming/tech as a hobby or did you take another path in the end?
Well to me it was clearly attempt to wage war against civilians, so the definition should apply. What if that malware ended up in Russian hospital which treated sick children?
How can we protect against people like RIAEvnagelist and whole node-ipc fiasco who undermine whole point of OSS? Imagine if public admin app uses some library written by lunatic? Whole goverment system can be target of such terrorist attack.
Re:My entire PC got wiped Do not download on Friday March 18, 2022 @01:45AM (#30719090)
Well there were many reports of hospitals being bombed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Not to mention Vietnam where there was 3x as many bombs dropped as in whole WW2 on all sides, nuts!
Re:My entire PC got wiped Do not download on Friday March 18, 2022 @01:43AM (#30719077)
Is it fair to compare which war was worse? The suffering is same anywhere, or do you mean that brown peoples lives are less important? If that is the case then this is really fucked up.
If 87 in your nickname suggest your age then I guess you are not the target for Uber. I’m 10 years younger and almost all of my peers never used Taxi and take Uber/Lyft quite often.
Re:Putin may be planning to pummel Kyiv into submission on Tuesday March 08, 2022 @02:34AM (#30597389)
Unfortunately its not that uncommon, we did that too in Vietnam where 2 million civillians died. Our government set up agenda to „bomb the back to stone age”. We dropped 3 times more bombs than were dropped during whole ww2.

Its unimaginable how brutal that war was, no wonder why there was so much opposition back then, sadly nobody was tried for war crimes ugh.

Re:Building for the 99% Developers on Thursday February 17, 2022 @07:22AM (#30372304)
100% agree. Even tough i work at F500 company our team acts like a startup. With server less we don’t need to hire expensive devops and shell out millions for expensive k8s clusters. I am pretty sure it’s the future for most of us.
Re:Meta is not threatening to leave Europe on Friday February 11, 2022 @12:21PM (#30304072)
It’s not for people, it’s for the investors
Re:Meta may be forced to shutter Facebook, Instagram in EU on Tuesday February 08, 2022 @04:37AM (#30256491)
They are at 15 P/E. 2 times lower than Apple, MSFT. Not to mention Tesla
Re:In the end, you're treated like a spy, says MIT scientist on Friday January 28, 2022 @12:54PM (#30118058)
If you are really that concerned about “national security” you can just start employing American nationals only. If that is not enough and anyone looking a bit Asian can look suspicious to you then start employing only white christian americans.

This what overt nationalism and fear of losing supremacy can lead to.

But we know that this didn’t work before so that’s why America has become the place where talents from all over the world come. If we go back to how it was in 1920s then why shouldn’t go back even further and start burning witches again?

Re:Procrastinatory Doom Loops on Friday January 07, 2022 @09:06AM (#29839211)
Ugh I feel you, had same situation, except I can’t live with my gf due all the border closures and lockdowns so it was extra hard for me. You should consider yourself very lucky and privileged.
Exactly, the biggest “bad guys” nations are now the core west nations: Germany, Japan, Italy. While their victims China, Russia and others are villified. It’s about manufacturing consent and dehumanizing others so that the moronic public is more in favor of killing innocent civilians.
Re:Intel apologises in China over Xinjiang supplier statement on Thursday December 23, 2021 @04:43PM (#29666859)
https://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/figures/2021/WarDeathTol...

It’s pure atrocity…

Also about the US minority ( I wasn’t writing about that in my earlier comment but since you brought that up)

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01846-z

So stop denying that systemic racism, racial profiling of minorities and targeted police brutality is not happening in the US. Did you vote for Trump? Because that would explain why you think those things don’t exist.

Re:Intel apologises in China over Xinjiang supplier statement on Thursday December 23, 2021 @04:38PM (#29666810)
Do you actually believe there is some sort of repression in HK? Black people are more repressed in the US than anyone in HK… I just visited HK on a business trip (had to quarantine) and there were no signs of oppression or any sort of police brutality at all.
Re:Intel apologises in China over Xinjiang supplier statement on Thursday December 23, 2021 @04:34PM (#29666761)
For one, chinese made Teslas are superior in quality to American ones. So looks like you are right, not every chinese product should be seen as inferior to japanese or even American.
Re:Intel apologises in China over Xinjiang supplier statement on Thursday December 23, 2021 @04:29PM (#29666709)
Wtf, so the Uyghur movement in the US is basically right wing, pro gun, pro trump organization? Also seems to be aligning with some qanon islamophobes as well. The irony.
