Eh? What's this western fantasy in regard of communism?

I wont say for all comm countries, but the ussr is literally the ineffectiveness at scale. You have gigantic central accounting organization that plan faked past with lag for several years for the whole country. Every industry severally lacking budget except for several efficient military serving organizations. Because most of the industries fields fail on themselves, the ones that thrive are also given patronage over the ones that fail. You have rocket industry handling milk production or KGB managing pig farms. Insane amount of people would work in fake organizations where they would just come into cold office and sit there in coats in front of empty table. Cause gov is obliged to give everyone some work and pay.

Sprinkled with "blazingly fast; written in Rust" each week for the last 10+ years

these safeguards are insane. codex would do some fix, them say "hm, my change has introduced a vulnerability. let me write a test for it and then do the fix" and the safeguard stops it.

the government does cover-ups. There was already an epidemic problem earlier this year when they seized and killed cattle in Siberia while keeping silence and pretending nothing happens. Then they have to admit that there is a disease after unrest cause them keeping silence was used for messages like "gov helps big corpos destroy local farmers' business". But they still named less dangerous one, which didn't match the harshness of the protocol they used. Cause if they named the real problem, other countries would've stopped buying meat.

for the cattle epidemic see: https://ru-wikipedia-org.translate.goog/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B0%D1...

>the exiled news outlet

i wouldn't rely as a source of information on some very niche outlet whose stuff located thousands kms from the place where something happens

> REN TV.

these are guys whose bread and butter are paranormal activity and UFOs

This information that she "broke a tube" is tabloid bs.

Non-tabloid version is that she didn't catch it in the lab, she got ill "while being on a research trip to Buryatia region near the border where sources of the disease were found".

Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @03:31PM (#49899104)
This is how ChatGPT, Cursor apps are built. They spent so much money on PR stunts, but "thousands of agents" can't make an app that doesn't freeze on each keystroke. Not even talking about user-friendly ui
Entity = owner?
Interesting, thanks. Seeing agents querying compiled code using reflection to find references looks painful and inefficient. Made me want to help little buddy somehow, but had no idea how

How these things are even connected?

The current prices the largest players set for their models are not profitable, they bleed money. Eventually they will "fix" it. It could end up making their services less affordable and it could cascade other businesses and services that are dependent on them go out of business

Yeah, but it would in many cases remove you as a meat proxy when your relative or a friend or your boss ask you how to make X when they have a box where they can write to a genie "I want X" and it would put everything in place for them
Not a fan of pushing LLMs into everything, but this is one of those things where it would be great to have a powerful(or specialized) local llm to help you

Write a formula, make a macros, filter stuff, formatting. I'd rather not to Google it. Especially considering SEO made it impossible to find information how to do stuff in editor X of version Y, at best you'd get thrown with crap for other version and have to figure out how to adapt it for your version

Nice. But these tests raise a question what results are reproducible, the final visual, time, tool calling or it's mostly noise. Like, have you tried same combination or model and harness multiple times?
Isn't it turn on by default?
Re:Cursor launches Origin, GitHub alternative on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @01:56PM (#49349711)
I was annoyed seeing unskippable "ad" within Cursor about it. Looked like a huge banner "give us control over all your code" with only one visible button to consent
I kept Firefox on one system for testing and had some non-popular extensions installed there. I rarely opened it and when I did it would spew me with a message that one of the extensions got malicious code installed
These humanoid robots would cost $10-100k to make and would require costly maintenance for them to do the job people in poor countries do for a dollar. I don't say we won't come to it eventually, but not in near future

More realistically it seems that llms in several years could help dramatically decrease costs of automation and make it available for more industries

Well, your body knows nothing about number of reps or the weights. You can also do your reps slower.
Apps can read sim card info. Its country and whether the card is currently in roaming, you can't full them that way

You would need to get your sim card out of your phone and use wifi or buy one of them foreign esim

For vpns I actually found that websites that block vpns for some reasons are worse at detecting commercial vpns than when you deploy your own on vps

Also I forgot about other things. When my phone for some unknown reason had its region set as GB, I had British ads in YouTube music

Re:Midjourney Medical on Thursday June 18, 2026 @03:16AM (#48581910)
Healthcare resources are very limited, you'd overwhelm it with lots of "yeah that's a defect, but 40% have it", things that would go away on its own, false positives, things that do not require urgent intervention, 10x increase of hypochondriacs and health deterioration caused by anxiety

You'd have a system where every resource is allocated for diagnostics, but no medical staff to treat it

Also a significant part of population avoids screening even if they are not required to paid anything from their pocket

That's kinda happen right now. Telegram's proxy produce huge amount of garbage data to hide and avoid blocking
Re:Google Broke reCAPTCHA for De-Googled Android Users on Saturday May 09, 2026 @02:09AM (#48072298)
"non-Apple", i.e. Android

The problem is that most popular apps for Android outside Chinese app stores rely on Google services (specifically, Firebase) for push notifications.

Gas.It is needed in lots of processes. It's very difficult and extremely expensive to transport gas. So the best solution is to use it at the place it's extracted.
They are not supposed to intercept ballistic missiles anyway,it's THAAD's job
Re:Europe's $24T Breakup with Visa and Mastercard Has Begun on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @12:25AM (#46971201)
What are you talking about, 92% of Russian population has access to internet via landlines, the government subsidised building all the infustructre. The internet access is one of the cheapest in the world($5-10 per month for 100-500mbit/s), starlink with its $50-120 price tag is not affordable at all, ignoring the fact it doesn't even work here
While I personally use Ubuntu on my laptop for several years now, when I helped my relative with a brand new laptop (huawei) with Windows 11 I was suprised how fast it was despite being very cheap, I don't remember any version of Windows that had such a performance, at least visually. Out of curiosity, what model does your father have?
Re:iPhone Pocket: a beautiful way to wear and carry iPhone on Tuesday November 11, 2025 @11:54AM (#45889648)
My mom knitted a bag for my niece's iphone in 2024, so there already was a trend.
It only affects some cells, not the whole body.

I kinda see that too. Basically, the way some authors use to increase content size with redundant words is the default behavior for Ai chats plus all the disclaimers to avoid possible litigations or negative public image.
