Remembering back to when I was a kid, Scratch was absolutely fantastic, and definitely helped me put me on the path I am today. Fantastic work.
With that said (and apologies on using the power of HN here), I've been trying to get in touch with Scratch support to have an old account of mine deleted, but I can't ever seem to get a reply. Would you happen to know who to get in touch with, other than the contact form?
As someone sitting kinda on the outside of fintech/finance, it just feels like there's a lot less value add and market oversaturation these days from "hipster app with Bancorp account".
I previously had Simple (rest in peace), and was totally okay with it, but it clearly wasn't worth it to BBVA/PNC. I went to SoFi just because they're making moves to get their own charter, rather than sitting with Bancorp.
Now you've got Robinhood, Credit Karma, Chime, etc etc all running Bancorp backing accounts so really there's no fundamental difference between any of them.
CoD games do use different apps.
Steam has apps, packages, and depots.
Package: the store page, the actual entitlement purchase
App: the entries that show up in the steam library
Depot: not really important to this discussion
They're just spongebob texting "gamer".
My unfounded speculation is that the 3060Ti limiter (which was mostly bypassed due to an accidental leak of dev drivers) acted as a bit of a test balloon to see how it would be attacked before implementing it on the 3070/3080 silicon.
The Pentel Energel mentioned upthread is also pretty good at not smudging.
The authentication method is knowing how to fly said plane and getting in said plane in the first place.
The planes that are relatively accessible aren't flightworthy without effort, and the planes that are flightworthy require violating federal law (in the US) to access them.
Because it's a group MMS instead of a group iMessage, it falls back to sending those as messages instead of sending them as metadata.
It's definitely doable. Dolby Axon (which shut down a few years ago) had positional voice chat.
Yeah, they're all covered with safety covers to avoid bumping.
But imagine telling your licensor "hey we had to put a warning that says players may see inappropriate body parts made out of Lego brand bricks".
That would go over like a lead ballon.
1: it wasn't a backdoor
2: it wasn't a backdoor
Yes and no.
Yes, it puts 1Password as the only point of failure iff 1Password security is compromised. This would require knowing my Master Password, my Secret Key, and 2FA with either my OTP from Google Authenticator or a Yubikey to open the vault on a new device, or knowing my master password on a device that I already have 1Password set up on.
On the flip side however, for anyone who _doesn't_ know I use 1Password (oops), any credential stuffing attack or password leak is not likely to get anywhere, as they're not going to be attacking my 1Password vault.
It's just using the accessibility privileges to look at the contents of the screen like a screen reader would, and copy the shown code. This isn't quite as advanced as "stealing your seeds".
That’s what nextDNS offers (basically pihole in the cloud). And that only works by hitting a specific subdomain or endpoint on nextdns.io.
If you’re hitting cloudflare, it’s just hitting the regular endpoint so no user identifying information.
I'm actually curious on this: how broad is the coverage on say computers? This is HN, so would say a home server be covered?
I think the implication is that an unlinked and appropriately aged Github/HN account can be compromised to get 20 bucks by compromising and linking.
I'm sure if someone actually reached out to @malgorithms saying "hey someone stole my GH/HN account out from under me to get the 20 bucks" they'd resolve the issue.
The compatibility definition document for Android gets it pretty secure, but realistically the only secure Android devices are Pixels in my opinion.
In that case, I'm going to hazard a guess that your iCloud email address was actually compromised, and is being used to send it to every address in your contacts.
It's the problem with leaning into a niche viewpoint. You have to continue to lean harder and harder into that viewpoint as the times change in order to keep the people who also believe in that viewpoint supporting you.
I genuinely think the FSF/RMS level hate of non-free software will continue to die out as everyone starts to die/retire from public eye. Whether or not that's a good thing overall is not something I'm going to touch, but it seems like there's not enough being this aggressive to keep this viewpoint sustainable.
I think it's one of those situations where he has the ability to wax poetic from his ivory tower simply because he doesn't have to exist in the real world in terms of technology.
If he had to exist in the real world, he would find it a lot harder to stick to those principles.
Bad idea in search of good idea, start with power, some sort of bumper car style power distribution system. You could do something similar to the newer floor pick up system, where the ceiling has a fine grid of + and - terminal rails, and the carts have hookups designed to always be touching at least 1 of each polarity, and then normalize the power.
Honestly, I just prefer the days when he talked through repairing a computer, and wasn't standing on a soapbox while he did it.
It was really relaxing and interesting to watch, but now that he's complaining about Apple half the time, it's significantly less enjoyable for me to watch.
iMessage doesn't even warrant a dialog in OOBE on iPhone IIRC.
Not sure what pop-up you're talking about then.
I've also had decent luck on Craigslist. (ymmv, my Craigslist is close enough to SV where the availability is there)
OnePlus doesn't use USB-PD, they use Dash Charge.
Blame OP, not Nintendo.
> confirming 2nd/Xth characters
That is somehow significantly less reassuring than not having 3D Secure payments in the first place.
Eh not quite. Only HW1 Model S did the sign recognition based on camera, HW2+ currently just uses GPS database.
Agreed. I don't personally have any Nest hardware in my home, but I do have the app on my phone for family members' home, and the app is definitely kind of meh at best.
For all the backlash Google has gotten lately, it really does seem like they're trying to be more open with their privacy controls lately (disabling the option to turn off the camera light), as well as encouraging more security.
Nest hardware will still work just fine?
I'm not sure where you're drawing the conclusion that the Nest Hello no longer works.
