This is just what banks do O_o underwrite loans, then collateralize (i.e. bundle) to people who want the risk.

Unless you have access to the original woodblocks then not really. And even if you do, they’ve probably degraded quite a bit from the printing process so the result won’t be identical.

Re:Show HN: Find the 10 highest and 10 lowest correlations to any stock
on Tuesday May 03, 2022 @10:48AM (#31249048)
Not with options. If you want to bet against a company you with options you can do it by either:
1. Buy a put. The put gives you the right to sell the stock at a certain price. If it goes below that price you make a profit, if it doesn’t your put is worthless. The maximum you can lose is what you paid for the put.
2. Sell a Call. This gives someone the right to buy the stock at a certain price (and you promise to sell at that price). If the stock is below that price your profit is what you sold the call. Your maximum loss is infinite since a stock price has no (theoretical) limit.

Journalists often have embargoes on their articles. A company may want to announce a new product, will tell a few newspapers but ask them to wait before publishing.

Re:An Introduction to Hierarchical Modeling
on Thursday March 04, 2021 @02:03PM (#26346637)
You could argue that a hierarchical model is already multiple models. If each department has a dummy variable then they wouldn't share the same intersect. The only difference is how you interpret that intercept. The department intercept would now not be the salary of an individual with 0 experience, but the difference between the salary of an individual with 0 experience in a department compared to the all other employees with 0 experience.
