Re:How can some infinities be bigger than others? on Wednesday April 19, 2023 @09:56PM (#35635473)
For me it doesn't make sense that one can be larger than another, infinity is the largest unbounded number, there is always a larger number
Re:The Status Trap on Monday April 03, 2023 @06:29AM (#35421169)
Status and money is essential, people with high status make good money, and you need it just to get to retirement, money that is. I do not like X good think will not bring happiness, its a pattern of X where X = working hard, money, status, etc does not bring happiness. Its dangerous and bad to teach people to be anything other than selfish in a constructive way.
Re:The Status Trap on Monday April 03, 2023 @06:27AM (#35421153)
X will never bring true happiness. So much nonsense
Re:Ask HN: What's open about OpenAI? on Wednesday January 04, 2023 @03:54AM (#34243477)
Open AI sounds better than closed AI like Potato chips rather than Heart attack salty greasy crunchers
This is silly, by that logic everything is doomed and it doesn’t take into account the backup nature of Mars and living in space

Re:Category Theory Illustrated – Logic on Sunday September 26, 2021 @10:20PM (#28666464)
propositions, firstly, tell me what a proposition is for the purpose of this document - this is a common problem with maths documents/books, I come across something which I don't understand. It says primary propositions, what is a primary proposition? Can you give an example?
Re:Australia to acquire nuclear submarine fleet (AUKUS) on Friday September 17, 2021 @03:34AM (#28562366)
Correct. The Alligators, spiders, snakes and harsh environment with no good roads and a huge distance between there and any people doesn't make it an attractive place to land and then get bombed on by planes.
Re:Australia is becoming a surveillance state on Wednesday August 11, 2021 @06:38AM (#28140353)
I hope the AI watches us and then takes us over

We are robots.
Re:Consciousness and the Laws of Physics on Saturday July 17, 2021 @10:10AM (#27865866)
Why do people think there is some magical "consciousness" thingy other than what we observe, a machine in a wet box
Re:The vital art of talking to strangers on Wednesday July 14, 2021 @11:01PM (#27840983)
This is silly, no stranger wants to be inturrupted
If your an alien, your going to be smart enough to disguise your transport as a earth plane, even if your not so smart
Re:An Introduction to Knowledge Graphs on Sunday May 23, 2021 @02:52AM (#27252945)
I'm surprised there's not many knowledge graph databases but there are graph databases eg Neo4J and there is GraphQL. It seems they are more popular
Strong AI can be done, but you need to encode agency and intent into the thing and the only agency and intent we allow is self driving cars, not some evil AI which can do the kinds of intents us humans think of.
You can use serverless framework

Re:Have we already been visited by aliens? on Wednesday January 20, 2021 @12:03PM (#25848824)
The answer is no
It’s rubbish, whatever propulsion method you have you still need to push the air out of the way to move the thing forwards which takes the same energy using imaginary gravitational waves or a jet engine. No magic is going to make the air get out of the way any faster
Re:CIA Releases UFO Documents on Wednesday January 13, 2021 @12:18AM (#25758497)
With hypnotism its trivial, maybe a guy who previously worked at a travelling circus lost his job and goes around and hypnotises people to believe they saw a UFO.
