I think you get the award for dumbest idea of the day.
Re:Stephen R. Covey Taught Me Not to Be Like Him on Tuesday July 17, 2012 @07:10PM (#4258419)
Summary of the article:

Stephen Convey Taught Me Not to Be Like Him, but screw that, I still want to.

I'm not sure anyone laughed harder than me upon hearing the news.
Re:The most important lesson I ever learned on Tuesday July 10, 2012 @09:20PM (#4227214)
"Just do it" is a pretty shitty lesson.
Like he has a choice or control in the matter...
Re:Why You Can't Admit Personal Mistakes on the Internet on Monday July 09, 2012 @06:09PM (#4220828)
Or: "How to appear strong when you are weak." There's a word for people who never admit to a mistake: liars.
Re:Don’t Quit Your 9-to-5 Job To Start A Startup on Monday July 09, 2012 @06:02PM (#4220794)
What trite linkbait.
Re:The culture myth on Saturday July 07, 2012 @02:22AM (#4210905)
Don't do it! Go find a small start-up doing something that interests you.
Seriously, screw TechChrunch. They're just this side of blog-spam.

Re:Why Your McD's Burger Doesn't Look Like the One in the Ad on Wednesday June 20, 2012 @05:45PM (#4139282)

Re:Final thoughts on Windows 8: A design disaster on Sunday June 17, 2012 @09:46PM (#4124479)
When was the last time Microsoft had control of the image of any of its products?
Re:Mimetypes versus Extensions on Sunday June 17, 2012 @12:09AM (#4122208)
The unfortunate thing with mime-types, is that even though you get text/* or image/*, they are not reliable. For example, how do you ask "is this an image I can reliably put into an <img/> tag and have it successfully render?" From what I've seen, the only options are whitelists of specific content types or extensions.
Re:How Depressives Surf the Web on Friday June 15, 2012 @09:00PM (#4119523)
P2P? Oh, you must be depressed.

Use the internet more often or leave your computer on? Depressed!

Tend to surf the web and a variety of sites? How haven't you killed yourself by now?

Re:Enterprise class Java code on Friday June 15, 2012 @07:00PM (#4119151)
Counterpoint: Matz has no beard.
The biggest issue is that people still think of reddit as a single community. It's not, and you can't stereotype all of reddit by looking at /r/pics and /r/politics. You have control over your home page and can remove noisy subreddits from it.
Re:The Silencing of Maya on Tuesday June 12, 2012 @10:53PM (#4104091)
That is definitely a good idea, but what about the patents that are so blatantly vague or obvious, that many people are unknowingly violating them. It seems it's easier to prove non-infringement rather than prior art with most software patents.
Re:Aging Microsoft lures young tech idealists on Tuesday June 12, 2012 @10:43PM (#4104063)
Because you lose the intimacy of start-up culture at scale.
Re:Aging Microsoft lures young tech idealists on Tuesday June 12, 2012 @10:42PM (#4104057)
I don't think I would ever work at Microsoft, but I feel especially that way because of leadership like Steve Balmer.
Re:Why Smart People Are Stupid on Tuesday June 12, 2012 @07:52PM (#4103556)
I find the abundance of "See? Smart people are actually dumber than I am!" posts amusing.

He's always a little over the top.
Re:Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Names on Thursday June 07, 2012 @07:00PM (#4081784)
And yet there is no formal set of rules for names that can be enforced. Without it, we are forced to pick and choose assumptions.
Suddenly it feels like BusinessInsider is full of shit. Nope, that's always been the case.
Re:Twitter shut down my startup. on Thursday June 07, 2012 @06:42PM (#4081722)

Re:Don't Text Me, Bro. on Thursday June 07, 2012 @06:39PM (#4081707)
Lack of choice and collusion by the major telecoms.
If it's open source, why would the agents be asking what algorithms it uses? I'm calling bullshit on this article and the tweets.
Re:HBO says no, for now, to fans who want a web-only option on Thursday June 07, 2012 @11:51AM (#4079571)
I certainly do, since I will never purchase a cable subscription and it costs me internet access and HBO nothing for me to pirate their shows.
Re:Google Street View: A wolf in sheep’s clothing on Tuesday June 05, 2012 @04:39AM (#4067918)
