Not only that, you also have to pay to see the source code even after registering (which is okay with the OSS licenses). Any paying customer cares to clone it to github and show us? Since it's MIT licensed there should be no problem.

Totally unrelated but I loved your Hikaru Skirt and made one for my gf back then as a bday present (to go to a Vocalid live). It helped me to design and hide a small box and get similar electronics.

Calling "shallow" the OP but also calling all people in Shenzhen your friends ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The 1st person face is a bit shocking, and he does seem a bit naive at some points, but from that to call Scotty Allen "shallow and fantastically douchey asshole" is totally uncalled for.

> "Resisting arrest"

What? They were not arresting him as far as it has been shown. Resisting arrest is a grave crime AFAIK, so don't mix terms (or don't complain of other people mixing things!).

> "trespassing"

Again, read more about it, he was not trespassing at all. He was legally allowed to stay in the flight (even though the crew members said otherwise).

Re:Ask HN: What do you want to see in Ubuntu 17.10? on Friday March 31, 2017 @12:47PM (#14005594)
Not OP just honestly curious, of the $12k how much is dedicated to Canonical (donation/others)?
When the original case surfaced I was wondering the same. If they had (real) evidence that your encrypted hard drives have CP, then I'd be okay putting you in jail (;

However, if that was the case then they wouldn't need to decrypt the drives, so this whole case smells quite a bit.

AFAIK there is a similar situation in the airport immigration; if you are an US citizen and don't want to provide a password for an encrypted device, they'll make you have a bad time, then throw the device and then let you in. Same for foreigners except with a flight back instead of letting them in. The bad time they give you basically depends on the immigration officer.

Every time I read a minesweeper article I let my browser autocomplete "mines" to go to your program. Thanks for making it!
Re:What terrible treatment have you seen in the workplace? on Saturday March 04, 2017 @02:22PM (#13792444)
Spain
We were encouraged by our boss to look up the new hires (international women doing an internship for free) on Facebook and other social networks to see if they were hot before hiring them and we did have veto decision based on looks. Later my boss wasn't so happy that I didn't show my excitement about this even though I'm a straight young male (my other coworker wasn't so happy as well).

It was my first job, then something similar happened in my second job, but there I told my bosses that it'd be better idea to hire someone based on their knowledge and not on looks. I got scolded but stood my ground on this (even though in this job my coworkers were supportive on only hiring hot women). Now I've decided never to work again in this shitty country and I'm a freelancer earning 10x more money.
