I can imagine if the site own who is stuck in Mars with a Casio fx-9750GII will attempt to use it to host a web page to communicate back to earth or something.

I remembered my first 'programming' experience. Went to the library and pour through the BASIC books, found an 'I spy' game that only had like 12-15 lines of code.
Went to my friend's C64, typed everything out and then sat looking at the screen after typing 'Enter' for the last statement.
Nothing happened obviously. That damn book didn't teach u about compiling, running and I am not even sure that book was about programming for C64 or what not.

Re:In China, an Empire Built by Aping Apple

In China, the user base is its advantage. With the manufacturing skills, they are just Aping now, give it 10-15 more years, those might just grow into another Samsung, Amazon. In fact, last year two of Alibaba’s portals together handled 1.1 trillion yuan ($170 billion) in sales, more than eBay and Amazon combined (Economists - http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/21573981-chinas-e-comm...)
Re:What is a Full Stack developer? (2012)
on Monday June 03, 2013 @05:03AM (#5812137)
My intepretation of his definition is for a developer (web or other-wise) to be able to build an entire software mostly by himself, from setting up the server/database/network, designing the data models, implementing the business logic (with frameworks, APIs) and then designing the HTML/CSS/JS UI.

Slight correction, ISP or Corporation can run a HTTPS proxy. In effect, your 'HTTPS' connection is to the IPS/Corporate proxy only.

The KS project is a PC version which i assume will take more to develop than the iPhone game right ? I do not know how much it takes to develop such a game but other games in KS is also asking for similar range (Wasteland 2 got twice the $900k they asked for).

There is no mention about competition. Most economic models assumes some kind of competition. I think he should survey the prices of similar apps and then decide where to price his app.

They'll need security staff to protect the ship then ?

Re:Why Naming Your Company Sucks
on Thursday June 16, 2011 @02:34AM (#2660309)
If name is taken up or trademarked, why not call it - TheXXX then when you've become a billion dollar company, name it the way you want: XXX.
If it doesn't become a billion dollar company, then the name does not matter.
