Came to the comments with the same question as you. I'm pretty sure the answer is that it almost certainly was a bunch of small projectiles hurled simultaneously, but that wouldn't be interesting enough to even write an article about.

I'm pretty sure this isn't even written by a human, it's deliberately inaccurate infotainment LLM slop.

I came to the comment section to mention other seratonergic drugs that do something similar to what the study mentions. Psilocin is a serotonin 2A agonist, LSD is a 1A agonist (according to a quick google search), and this new drug works on "4" receptors. All of which seem to have similar beneficial therapeutic effects when used properly.

In general, I'm very excited to see drugs like these being researched, including previously illegal "schedule 1" drugs that can (and probably should) be used in therapeutic settings.

If you're looking for some good content to learn more about this, Andrew Huberman is currently doing a handful of podcasts on drugs like these, and it's really educational. (Assuming you can handle his long-form podcast style)

As a teenager, I remember getting a distinct sense of accomplishment for wiping every trace of Internet Explorer from my computer.
