Then you scroll down to their time series showing "True Unemployment" is at historic lows
They're not switching to a new apportionment formula that doesn't politically benefit the party in power either

Re:Tech Progress Is Slowing Down on Saturday February 18, 2023 @01:39PM (#34849665)
True. The article is about hardware, though. Luckily, we're getting a lot more use out of GPUs and SSDs at a time when improvement in CPUs and RAM has drastically slowed.

Re:FB feed is 98% suggested pages and barely any friends' posts on Wednesday September 14, 2022 @10:32AM (#32837790)
I pitched to an engineer that worked on Facebook newsfeed ranking that they make a setting to let me hide all reposts because my feed was entirely political links and meme images. He didn’t buy that life updates from friends was what I wanted to see, very adamant that if I used the “I don’t like this” button, eventually it would find content I liked.
TikTok is so popular I bet banning it would cause widespread social unrest and violence.
Re:Apple Removes Flag Icons in Monterey 12.4 on Thursday May 26, 2022 @11:25AM (#31519513)

The only solution is removing geographic districts entirely. The focus is on how squiggly the district lines are rather than the underlying issue that your vote is worthless in almost any election.
ok I pick the other side, then.
Re:The case for and against analogies on Friday February 04, 2022 @12:53PM (#30210142)
Analogies and idioms are heavily leaned on when you’ve substituted actual expertise for rhetoric.
it won't even make a difference to his finances that he used a coke bottle as a vase. he just enjoys the feeling of restraining himself from buying trivially inexpensive things. maybe he could get a good return if he did that for big-ticket items - "yeah i just stuffed old clothes into some amazon boxes and that's my sofa."

It follows from this that you think the future of software companies will be reaping even greater profits from massive payroll cuts. I doubt it.

this is so bizarre. learning in pure frequency order doesn't make sense. e.g. you should learn most of the numbers together instead of spread out like that.

Re:Producer of Netflix Three body problem found poisoned on Thursday December 24, 2020 @07:22AM (#25526903)
You're absolutely wrong. The book uses the cultural revolution to contrast with the progress of the modern era.

Why should they rise? Maybe they should stay low if it is so productive.

The book Winner Take All Politics claims it’s due to rule changes within political parties such as the presidential primaries, giving far more importance to high earners and shareholders.

Ok, I read it. At no point does it say Alibaba is owned by the Chinese government. Jack Ma's not even the CEO anymore so dunno what you think this proves.

Haven't used Alipay but Wechat is really annoying because they get your Wechat contact info and text you ads. Other than that, yeah it blows away US payment system. Amazon Go store has potential to get us back on top, though.
